Project Extension
Project Extension is a plugin where you add an extension at the end, e.g. instead of "Project" on it's own, you could add .sap or any other extension to the end of the name.
Current extensions:
.sap Scratch Application
.sis Scratch in Scratch
.sosp OS Project
.modp Project made in Scratch modifcation
.art Art project
.stor Story project
.clut Clutter project, posted for Clutter.
.spam Spam project
.dime Dimension project
and...
.chat Chatbot/Mesh project

No, it's optional and can already be done.
It's just a list of the extensions. For example, you've got a project named "Project". It's a Scratch app so you decide to add ".sab" to the end.
