Add to the filter.

Today gamefreak23456 posted three rude comments on my stuff (I don't think it was him; he posted his password in the forums, but MyRedNeptune removed it. And he normally doesn't swear, I think). One was on my Star Wars Game, saying I was a bad(name for donkey). That got through. Then on Code Messenger (my code program), saying to decode something (name for a female dog and the name for a donkey). That got through, but you can't prevent encoded messages. Then he posted the F word with a space in the middle.

Isn't this a bit open? Surely the first and third comments should not have gotten through? I seriously recommend that you add to the filter.

What I recommend to add:
The F Word with spaces in it. You are not going to have a word ending in 'fu' and then start a word with 'ck'. This also works if you move the space.
For the B Word, you can't do anything. It is the proper name for a female dog, so you have to leave it. If you really wanted to do something, whenever someone posts that word, the Scratch Team will get a notice and read the comment/post. If it's used correctly (as a dog), that's all right. If it's used innapropiately... then it gets removed.
For bad(name for donkey), that gets through without any tinkering. Surely it shouldn't? It should be caught, along with spaces throughout it.
Astericks and parenthesis surrounding swear words (along with swear words that have spaces in them).
Misspelled swear words that are believeable (like leaving out the 'u' in the F word or the 'I' in the B Word.

Be creative! Can you think of more?

Oh, that's awful. And you can't prove that it isn't gamefreak23456, even though it obviously isn't.

Re: Add to the filter.

Well, the first one probably wasn't censored because a lot of words use those 3 letters in that combination somewhere, and since they don't want the filters censoring non-swears they couldn't add it. And the third wasn't censored because it appears to the filters as two words. There's unlimited ways people can get past these filters, since it's all automatic and isn't exactly "smart".

I guess the moral of the story is you can't make a perfect word filter.  tongue

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

It's horrible! I hate it when people take advantage of all that stuff. I visited your project, and good for you to give a nice, clear warning that you flag all encoded swearwords.

True. You could add spaces randomly, slip asterisks in between letters, mispell it; the list could go on forever.
But the list could do with some improvement.

Oh, the sympathy!  smile

Yes, it's true you can't get a perfect filter. But shouldn't it be improved? You should be caught if you slip in spaces (people often do that), or do simple misspellings (ones that aren't likely to be done accidentally when typing normal stuff.

Yes, I don't think it was the real user of gamefreak23456. But if there's plenty of proof, I'll believe it.  smile

I commented on my project, and here's the comment. I wrote:

Idiots! Someone just swore encoded swear words! If any of you do that, YOU SHALL BE FLAGGED! Please do not waste my time. That would be seriously pathetic.

I put a better warning in the project notes though.

The problem with code projects is that you can encoded swear words and not get caught.  sad

I added a list of things for people to update. Please read them and tell me what you think!  smile

how about the numbers thing? like writing the F word with a 7 in the middle or writing the B word with the I as a 1.

for the B word thing, id still say get rid of it completely. nobody uses the real term for a female dog in every day/internet language.

also i still think righting the F word as 'f***' is innapropriate although it is technacly sensered. so if someone wrote (i dont really mean it) 'f*** you' you wont be like 'oh, i am not offended by that just because there are stars instead of 'uck'' like it still is offensive because you know what they are TRYING to say.

so.... yeah.
