Top 5 Science Fiction Movies (IMO)

This is my opinion of my favorite science fiction (my fave genre) movies (so far).

5. TRON (1982); A fantastic movie that really made me think. Are there really worlds inside my PC?

4. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982); A touching story of friendship. A Steven Spielberg masterpiece. That's all there is to say.

3. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968); This film was slow and quite boring, but that doesn't stop it from being a very confusing and interesting sci-fi movie. I had to watch it several times to really get it.

2. Star Wars (1977); This was the first Star Wars movie I watched and my personal favorite out of all six. If you haven't seen it, then watch it now.

1. The Matrix (1999); This is not only my favorite sci-fi movie, but one of my favorite movies of all time. It's eye-popping visuals and mind-bending plot (which I will not mention, because I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it) is what makes what it is. A truly revolutionary film.

The reason Blade Runner isn't here is because I have not yet seen it. Anyways, this is my list of favorite sci-fi movies. What's yours?

Re: Top 5 Science Fiction Movies (IMO)

Nearly gave me a heart attack when I thought you meant the TRON remake, but now it's all good.

I'm the only person I know who's seen 2010, so I keep having to explain to people that 2001's ending only makes sense when you watch the second.  I hope I get to see 3001 soon.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Tron is WEIRD???

No it's not. Tron is AWESOME.

And Star Wars isn't science fiction? Er...yeah it is. Space opera is the same thing as sci-fi.

Tron Legacy is a fantastically brilliant film! Also it's a sequel, not a remake.

Re: Top 5 Science Fiction Movies (IMO)

5. Avatar (2009) Awesome visuals, strange story line. Original idea, but very very weird. Other than that, good

4. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982); A touching story of friendship. A Steven Spielberg masterpiece. That's all there is to say. AMAZING BTW

3. 9 (2009 obviously) Wow, amazing animation, great idea, original too. Although the ending is quite strange, ghosts of sock puppets and all.

2. Star Wars (1977); This was the first Star Wars movie I watched and my personal favorite out of all six. If you haven't seen it, then watch it now.

1. The Matrix (1999); This is not only my favorite sci-fi movie, but one of my favorite movies of all time. HAHAHAHAHAHA NO.

I agree that Avatar was a good movie, but I do agree that most of the plot was unoriginal.

Anyways, here are my next 5 fave sci-fi flicks.

10. Tron Legacy (2010); Okay, don't hate on me for this, but this movie was actually more than I expected it to be. The storyline was very vaguely explained, but I kind of got it because I read the comic book prequel (Tron Betrayal) and watched the original Tron before watching this. The visuals are spectacular and the score is amazing (The Academy sucks for not nominating Daft Punk for Best Original Score).

9. Jurassic Park (1993); I watched this movie a couple of years ago and loved it. The dinosaurs were awesome and didn't look fake. I like the suspenseful scenes that run throughout (i.e. velociraptors in the kitchen).

8. Avatar (2009); I am not kidding. This movie is epic and awesome. The storyline was unoriginal, I know. The visuals were really cool though. The lush jungle environment and strange alien wildlife really mesmerized me.

7. Back to the Future (1985); A cult classic. If you haven't seen it, you're not a sci-fi fan.

6. Inception (2010); This movie is the most confusing movie I've ever seen. I got the concept all right, but some of just was some of those "What the heck was that?" moments.
