i wrote a story about unicorns because they are the coolest thing ever and cheesy totally didn't make me write it at all or anything like that
so yeah
There once was a girl named Elsie. Elsie went to a normal school, and had a normal family; Two younger sisters- Twins, both eight, a mom, and a dad. Elsie lived a happy, normal life until she was twelve. It was February third- A day she would never forget. It was on that day that Elsie's father packed up his bags and left the family, without even saying goodbye. He left a note that didn't make them feel any better. All it said was he wouldn't be coming back, but he wished them all well.
"If he wishes us all well, why did he leave?" Elsie thought after reading the note she found on the kitchen counter. Her sisters cried after reading it, and her mom mumbled to herself, "Nothing lasts forever." Elsie wondered what that was supposed to mean. Plenty of things lasted forever- Friends, they lasted forever. She had thought family lasted forever, but that morning she was proved wrong.
Elsie and her sisters gathered their things for school, and they walked out to their bus stop. Her mom was sitting at the counter, re-reading the note over and over again. That morning, she had only got up to pour Elsie and her sisters orange juice and cereal. Directly after that, she sat back down and read the note over and over.
So Elsie and her sisters walked to the bus stop. Her sisters got on their bus to the Elementary school first, then she got on hers.
Elsie was a normal sixth grader. She had friends, and she had a crush on a boy in her Language Arts class named Leo. Almost all of her friends liked Leo too, and they sat together at lunch and giggled together as they chatted about how cute he was and how they wanted to ask him to the dance but they knew he'd say no. Leo always said no to girl's invitations to the dances- Probably because he got so many. A lot of girls liked Leo, but a crush was a crush, so most people kept it secret, or just told their closest friends. Elsie had told her closest friends- Which was about thirteen girls.
On a normal day, Elsie had a fun time on the bus, but this Thursday morning was anything but normal. She sat down in silence. Her friends didn't ask why she wasn't talking. They just talked and talked to each other, ignoring Elsie. When they got to school, Elsie walked slowly to her first class- Language arts. She hoped she wouldn't cry. She didn't want to look so silly in front of all of her friends and, more importantly, Leo.
But as she walked into room 164, her LA class, people giggled. Elsie was confused. She sat her books down at a lonely group of desks while everyone else sat together, giggling and looking back at her every once in a while. Finally, a girl Elsie didn't know very well stood up and walked over to her.
"So I heard you liked Leo!" She said loudly, just as Leo was walking into the class. Leo looked kind of creeped out, and everyone laughed. Then the bell rang, and Mrs. Jenards, Elsie's Language Arts teacher, walked in to see Elsie crying and everyone else laughing.
It was then that Elsie realized, friends do not last forever. Mrs. Jenards let her go to the counselor, but there were too many people so she had to schedule an appointment- For three weeks later. Elsie knew she couldn't go back to class, so she went to the bathroom and cried.
Then suddenly, the bathroom's lights turned a pinkish color. And then, a unicorn appeared in the bathroom.
"Hello. I'm Rainbow Corn." The unicorn said.
"I'm Elsie." Elsie said.
"Hello, Elsie. You look pretty sad." Rainbow Corn said, walking around the bathroom.
"I am pretty sad." Elsie said, sniffling.
"Why is that?" Rainbow Corn asked. "I don't like seeing my friends sad."
"I'm your friend?" Elsie asked. Suddenly, she stopped crying, and the bathroom's lights faded to a purply color.
"Why, of course. Unicorns are friends to all. And unicorns last forever. Would you like to go to Unicorn Land with me, Elsie?" The unicorn clacked its hooves together, then a huge portal opened up in the bathroom. The other side of the portal was a huge, open meadow, with unicorns dancing all around.
"Okay, sure." Elsie said. The unicorn guided Elsie through the portal, and they had fun with the other unicorns. They played tag and talked to each other and giggled.
"Elsie, you're so pretty!" A unicorn named Sparkle Shine said. "Hehehehehe!"
"She is so pretty! Hehehehe!" Sherbert Prancer said.
"You're all pretty unicorns, too! Hehehehe!" Elsie said. Then they all erupted into their "Hehehe!" laughter.
Elsie stayed with the unicorns for days- But in Unicorn Land, there was no nighttime. They had tea parties and giggled and flew Elsie around the skies. She met many, many unicorns.
"Elsie, you're such a wonderful friend!" Strawberry Rose said. "I think you're the bestest friend I've EVER had! Hehehehe!"
"You're a wonderful friend too, Strawberry Rose!" Elsie said. "Much unlike my old friends, who told everyone that I liked Leo, or didn't make me feel better when my dad left."
"Oh, it's okay Elsie. Nothing lasts forever." Sherbert Prancer said. Everyone gasped.
"Sherbert Prancer! Unicorns last forever!" Sparkle Shine said.
"Well..." Sherbert Prancer sounded like she wanted so say something different, but she just said "You're right! Hehehehe!" And everyone else Hehehehe'd too.
In Unicorn Land, the grass was a beautiful shade of green, the sky was always a beautiful shade of blue with a rainbow running through it. Sometimes Elsie and the unicorns had tea parties on the rainbow with Rainbow Queen- The Queen of unicorns. She was Rainbow Corn's aunt, but she was a busy unicorn so she couldn't come out every day for a tea party. She lived in a castle on top of the rainbow, and she happily let Elsie in whenever she visited.
"Wow, they really like me here!" Elsie thought.
But then one day, the sky wasn't blue. It was a dark shade of gray. Then a grayish unicorn with a dark, dark horn flew down from a cloud and into the Queen's castle, where Elsie was having a tea party with Strawberry Rose and the Queen.
"Rainbow Queen!" The gray unicorn said, flying down the corridor. "There has been trouble in Unicorn City! We need your help! They are soon to be at war with the Gnomes!"
The queen sighed as she set down her cup of tea.
"We'll send out our unicorns tomorrow- Earlier if possible. They will report to Unicorn City, and you will have to instruct them." The queen and the gray unicorn discussed these important matters for a bit longer, then the unicorn bowed to the queen, thanked her for her time and support, and flew away.
"Elsie, for your safety, you must leave." The queen said sadly.
"But- Why? I can help."
"No, you can't. This is too dangerous for you." The queen, Elsie, and Strawberry Rose all cried.
"Okay." Elsie said. "But I thought unicorns lasted forever."
"Nothing lasts forever." The queen said, grimly. "But the unicorns will be back one day. And one day, they will find you again, Elsie. If, at that time, you still want to join us in Unicorn Land, then you are welcome to come back. But until then, it is too dangerous." She sighed. "Sherbert Prancer will lead you home tomorrow. Now, I have some serious matters to discuss with the Royal court, so I'm afraid this tea party is adjourned."
The next day, Sherbert Prancer clacked his hooves together. Then a portal appeared.
"Nothing lasts forever, Elsie." He said. "Remember that."
"But it's such a horrible thought." Elsie said.
"Not really. Nothing lasts forever- Bad things and good. It's just a fact of life. I'm a pretty wise unicorn, you know."
"Hehehehe. Yes, I know that, Sherbert Prancer." Elsie giggled. "But you know, they said I might be back."
"Maybe." Sherbert said. "But it depends, you know."
Elsie sighed. "Yes, I know that, Sherbert."
"Okay Elsie. I really hate to say this-"
"I thought unicorns don't hate anything."
"Well I hate to say this, Elsie. You have to go."
"Oh, right." Elsie sighed. "Bye, Sherbert." Elsie stepped through the portal just as Sherbert Prancer was saying something. She never heard what he said, but she assumed it was just "Goodbye" or something. She figured it didn't really matter- She'd see Sherbert again. She'd see all of the unicorns again one day, so she thought.
