Scratch/Flash Challenge

Welcome to the...
                                                      Scratch/Flash Challenge!

In this challenge, try to create a game that is:

1. Fun and original. doesn't have to be complex but it has to be original. No copys, ripoffs or anything else of the sort. No using sprites that are unmistakably one brand. Be original and creative.
2. Must be a game. No simulations, movies, pictures, just games.
3. Must include music and sound effects, however for music, please obey the following rules:
     A. No singing, just nice regular, non-verbal music.
     B. No copyrighted music.
C.No endless 12 second loops. Should be at least 1 minute long.
4. The game MUST be flash quality. That is the main rule for this event. Must have flash graphics, speed and look like a flash game.  Make it look good.
5. Thought I covered this. No copyrighted characters or places either.

To submit your entry, please post a link to the game. One entry per person.

If you have any ideas for a prize, please post it.

Our gallery is coming soon.

Re: Scratch/Flash Challenge

I think you should allow people to display variables from variable boxes. No one who codes in flash makes individual graphics for numbers, it's usually just dynamic variable displays with filter effects added to look nicer.

Hi, I am Archmage coder extraordinaire. I do Scratch, pascal, java, php, html, AS2 and AS3. Leave me a message if you want coding advice. Also check out my personal website, lots of good stuff about web development, Flash, and Scratch (v1 and v2) !

Unfortunatly it can't. You are also using Yoshi, which is a nintendo Character.

Re: Scratch/Flash Challenge

Just wanted to know, but the law says that you can use 13 seconds of any song in any form of media. So, would I be able to include 13 seconds of a copyrighted song?

It does, for sure. My teacher is a professional director and says it is. So if she's not right (and she's extremely qualified), then who is?

Re: Scratch/Flash Challenge

I got lots of flash-like games that are great but do not have actual 'music'. Just like ambient sounds to add cool environments. Sometimes music isn't the best option when it doesn't suit the game and when it uses up a bit too much memory. Try these games of mine: 'Connect-5', 'Jail Break' and 'Ramsay'. They're my most flash-like games. My other flash-like games are good but are slight copies off other real games, like 'Portal v3.0' and 'Intelligence Qube'.

Thats is what I meant by music.
