I've wondered about this for a long time. "Why is the earliest Scratch version 1.2? Why doesn't it go farther back?" I now know there is Scratch 1.1 and 1.0. PLEASE put them on the download page! I'm really interested (and so are some other people) about what it looks like! I understand that bandwidth isn't free and that there might not be enough space to put it, but please consider this.

There's no point in putting it up, do you have a reason?
To compare the older and newer versions, I suppose.
It would certainly be interesting!

1.0 and 1.1 look just like 1.2, except there isn't an easy way to access to the source code in 1.0/1.1

1.0 looks nothing like 1.2. Check out the screenshots on the thread about previous versions of Scratch - it's very crude, and looks like an MS Paint job

I think there was some big change between Scratch 1.0 and 1.0.1 - now I'm not expert on these older versions of Scratch, but if what I'm reading about the older versions of Scratch are true, then Scratch 1.0 is really crude-looking while 1.0.1 looks much closer to the current version of Scratch. (Darn, we reaaaaally need a history section on the Scratch Wiki for this )
Ah, just in case anyone is interested, someone claimed to have the image file for Scratch 1.0 here.

Reason: Someone using Windows 3.0 will not be able to use Scratch without version 1.0.

Thanks for the download link! It's really similar to 1.2(.1). It has a fantastic frame-rate of 100, while others only have 40! Saving is very buggy, and some buttons don't work. One of the Japanese projects I made just appears as some random diacritics. Of course, opening a newer file just makes an error message. The Shift-Click-R thing doesn't work. Blocks in the "numbers" section don't preview the number when clicked. The horizontal/vertical flips in the paint editor are buggy sometimes. It may just be that I only have the image, but when I click the random button, it just makes a cat each time. And then, I tried to create a sprite from a file. I hit the "up one level" button, and it crashed. This is what it said. "FATAL VM ERROR. Sorry but the VM has crashed. Exception code: C0000005, Exception address: 00407997F, Current byte code: 205, Primitive index: 71. This information will be stored in the file C:\Documents and Settings\[my name]\My Documents\Squeak 4.1\crash.dmp with a complete stack dump." Weird...
(WHOA! I JUST NOTICED THAT "you" IN MY SIG SAYS "pikachu" NOW!!! WHAT THE...)
WHOA! THAT'S NOT WHAT I TYPED! Whenever I type y-o-u it says pikachu! [oh duh it's April fools.]
