On Mac there's Garageband, for Windows there's FL Studio, Reaper (this one's for recording mostly, I think) and lots more.

Yeah but that's mostly for sound editing and mixing, programs like FL Studio which are designed specifically for music are better, IMO.

Recording on my electroacoustic guitar right now  smile

FL Studio has some pretty good VSTs, try messing with Sytrus to make some instruments for electronic music. Autogun is fun to mess with too but I don't use it often. Here's a list of all the VST generators FL Studio comes with if you're curious.  smile

Usually it's easier when you actually play an instrument, so you'll know at least some basic theory and how to use the instrument in a song. But if you don't know music theory at all, consider looking up some guides on it in Google.

Orchestra = You end up learning how to read partiture like any real musician, also classical music is awesome
Rock Band = More popular, also easier to find people interested in it.
