How big a filesize do you guys like?

I'm 3D rendering my pointNclick game... And I think it'll be like 3-6 MBs. Do you guys mind such size? Here's what I mean.

No? I don't wanna make a project and have no one play it due to filesize.

don't worry, file size is not a problem unless it's more than 9 MB or it runs too slowly.

Make sure you tell us when you've finished your game, anxious to see it!  smile

Re: How big a filesize do you guys like?

Over 9 MBs? Hmm. I was considering rendering some video for this, which would probably burn through a Megabyte just for 3 frames. I finished adding in the images, and iit's 3.3 MBs. I still need to add the masks and stuff.

Any ideas? And would anyone here mind a doubled filesize for much smoother graphics?

Also, is there a way to import video? Frame by frame is... time consuming.

What 'kind' of video?
If it's a real video and you have the appropriate software, you can convert it to an animated GIF and import that GIF into Scratch. Otherwise, I can't help you.

They're already in images, I was just looking for a way to import a ton of images at once. I wasn't very clear.

Also, know a good way to do a textbox? I found I could use a "List" but it just looks so...  Bad.

Scratch really hasn't implemented that yet, except for the ask and answer blocks which act slightly like textboxes. You'll have to make your own if you want it nice and neat.

Hmm... Alright. I'll make em in another program and screenshot em in. Hello, even-more-bloated filesize!

Also, are there are lot of pointnclick games on this site? I got bored while waiting for my images to render and checked the site out some more. I couldn't find any.

No, it's not a very well known game style.

Re: How big a filesize do you guys like?

I think I'm gonna go over the 9 MB mark.
How good is Scratch's image compressor?
Does it lower quality of images too much? And is it beneficial enough?

Honestly, the description of the compressor is not appropriate here on the forums. It's that bad. Really, try not to pass the 9MB mark. Besides, if you pass the 10MB mark it won't let you upload it!

Re: How big a filesize do you guys like?

Ah! 10 MBs means no upload? I'm at the 5 MB mark now. I guess it's fine, I have most of the images in it.

I have some questions about what happens if I share my project, though. I know that people will see the source, which I don't mind (The site's slogan is "Share") but the images took me many hours to create, set up, and render. Do people typically avoid remixing projects other than small ones designed for it?

Usually, people avoid remixing projects other than demos and those annoying "Add you're _____". Unless they're trying to claim it for their own. In which case, you can report/flag the project, and it'll be removed within a few hours.

Alright. I'm more comfortable with this site now, so I decided to upload what I have so far. It's not much; You can only click on the TV and the Candles, but... I like it.

For anyone who wants give me input and/or just try it out,

That's a pretty great start! Keep working on it like that and you'll go far!

How good does a project have to be in order to get featured? Are they looking for anything in particular?

Re: How big a filesize do you guys like?

Coming along nicely. So far only 4.66 MBs are taken.
Is there a way to get the 10 MB limit waived? I understand it, but if I made another and wanted really smooth transisions and sound...
