Re: Beta Flash player

I think i said this before, but it's not working for me. We updated Adobe Flash, we restarted my browser, nothing seeems to work, though! Could it have something to do with my browser, my computer, or just the version of Flash I have?

Re: Beta Flash player

I noticed today that the fullscreen player seems to be working nicely, and the pen drawing/stamping glitches seem to be fixed too, good job! I can't believe how astonishingly fast the online turbo-speed option is! After looking at DarthPickley's project it gives me real hope for realtime 3D rendering becoming more of a reality in the future, great job!

Hmmm ... depends on what browser / OS / and Flash version you have. There are instructions on how to post a bug here:

Re: Beta Flash player

I created a program to test run speed. It repeatedly adds 1 to a variable while a timer is running, then calculates a score. Bigger is better. Downloaded (off-line), this program runs at 42.1, in the flash-player, it runs at 32.1, and in the java player, it runs at 36.
Here's a link to the program: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/apackolot/1684414
You don't have to believe me, but it's what I found.

Re: Beta Flash player

two things that i want to mention: if you're using effects like fisheye and swirl, they appear differently in java, flash, and flash fullscreen --- http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/MegaMor/1683537
also, the lists look really bad on flash, but they're fine on java --- http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ShupaJakub/1679277
other then those things, flash is better than java most of the time

Re: Beta Flash player

There must be a difference in the logic of the Flash version of the Scratch player as my game "guess" - http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/alanturing/1495853 - jumps straight into scoring a row of four pegs immediately after the first peg is dropped...

Sounds like a bug somewhere :-)

Re: Beta Flash player

It was working amazing...until for some reason my web browser stopped reading it. Considering it did the exact same thing to the Java player, I have to download all the projects I want to view now.

Is there any way to fix this?

I've heard that the Flash player can run at turbo speed, supposedly faster than Scratch's turbo speed. You can do this by shift-clicking the green flag.

Re: Beta Flash player

Why did no-one mention the Turbo Mode (shift-click-green-flag) or the Full Full screen (shift-click-fullscreen-button)

I just added the other thing, it's awesome.

Re: Beta Flash player

It's much better - stuff actually works! However, I noticed that 'step' size is much bigger in the flash player than it is on the actual Scratch program, so in a game where you have a character that walks around, the character will appear to be moving much faster than normal.

Great though, thanks, guys!

Re: Beta Flash player

I currently don't see the difference, but, once this flash player has been improved on more, there will probably be an outstanding difference!

Uh oh - please report a bug here!

Really? uh oh - the step size should be the exact same as it is in Scratch 1.4. Can you file a bug report on the thread linked above? Make sure to include all the detail asked for in the first post, so we can reproduce the problem here -- that's the first step to fixing anything. Thanks!
