A while ago, probably a week or two ago, I spawned near this small open area with water and surface rock. There was loads and loads of iron and coal everywhere! So I started with about 60 coal and 20 iron, on my first night. 
I've now expanded it so that my house fills most of the small hill and I've got two huge water slides for boats outside. And bridges two three islands... and on one of the islands theres a huge catacomb of caves underneath it and whenever I go in, I get lost so I end up having to mine why back up.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. They're gonna add the ability to change your spawn in the next update. Yes, you heard correctly CHANGE YOUR *' SPAWN!

To be honest I'm not that bothered, lol.
If only it'd been earlier... Not being able to change m spawn ruined one of my saves.

Here's my latest creation:
Mt. Minecraft. This isn't hollow, made entirely of snow, has steps so you can climb it, lit by redstone torches (the only artificial lighting source that won't melt snow), has fences so you won't fall off (unless you try to, it's possible to), and goes all the way to the top of the map.
