new guys used to like me a lot because i used to always post informative greetings in new members but yeah i hardly ever do that anymore
when i help in AAS they always get all happy when i help too heh

but the new people on the main site aren't as friendly because i tend to be less friendly if they're acting extremely ignorant
like for a week i was getting a bunch of poorly written hate comments on my projects because of something i said on some kids fake "I QUIT!!!" project

it was pretty hilarious

i love those sorta stuff. on jjrocker's "OI QUIT" project i told him i didn't care, WOW i started a war. the big names i am ashamed to say were on my side. i was supported by spritemaster, which made a lasting impression on the n00bish newbs.

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

I don't think all newbies hate you. ^^

However - I do notice that there are usually a fair amount of newbies who think they can throw their weight around so to speak when they join a community so they have a tendency to leave mean comments (and this happens with almost any online community).  hmm

That is fairly true. It usually happens when a "famous" scratcher friends them. They start to paint themselves a wrong self portrait.

Re: All newbies hate me.

This topic seems to be more about clashes between interests of different age groups than about experienced vs inexperienced.  It's a continuing issue in Scratch since it is attractive to people of many age-levels and cultural backgrounds.  That's why it's so important to keep an open mind and a friendly attitude.

Let me quote from the Terms of Use:

Terms of Use wrote:

As part of the Scratch community, you are sharing projects and ideas with people:
• from many different countries and cultures
• of all ages (from young children to teens and grandparents)
• with all levels of experience

We need your help to make this community a supportive place for every member.

Of course, you don't have to follow those Terms of Use.  You only need to follow them if you are using any of the Scratch sites (Main site, Forums, TBG Forum).  If you find that you can't follow them...then maybe you should spend your time somewhere else.

Hehe, sorry. Must've gotten a little out of hand in my statements  tongue

But seriously, I'll try to keep them to a minimum from now on.

Or you know, they are too intimidated by your animating skills.

Re: All newbies hate me.

Newbies hate a lot of people. Most of it is out of jealousy, misunderstanding, and immaturity.

Newbies hate everyone apart from Swifty2 and TheExplodingCheez (although he has quit).

Re: All newbies hate me.

Not to mention the newbies you're all hating on (shame on you guys) are new members, probably younger than 8 year olds. Great job, keep up the good work -.-

No problem!  Next time, just use the Report button, that way the Moderators get the message for sure.
