I don't think that we need to get all that worked up about this kind of thing though - it happens fairly regularly and the solution is simple - just flag the comments and let the Scratch Team handle them.
You have to remember that a lot of people using Scratch are inexperienced in the ways of the world and may actually believe that some magical combination of posts will lead to fame and fortune. Our job, as good internet citizens, is to gently educate them about the harmfulness of spam of any sort. A simple reply of "Please don't spam - chain letter comments don't work" - and then flag it - would probably get the message across. Or just flag it if you don't feel like replying.
Again, thanks for the help identifying and stopping this spam.
Haha it's like flies! "ew there's one! Hold on, I got it! SMACK! (or in this case flag) There, all gone!"

Well - yeah, I guess that there are a lot of people that believe what they read without question. Please remember that this is an educational site and, by design, it is used by a lot of inexperienced people. They are going to make mistakes...it's part of the learning process.
Maybe we could do a better job educating people about chain-letters? Or spam in general? Any suggestions on how we might approach that? And please don't suggest that we start a chain-letter with our message.

You could make an actual sticky for new-members saying important stuff about chain-mail and important things to know wont work
