I went to Target yesterday and there it was, a 3DS out for display! There was only Pilotwings Resort to play, but it was really cool. Tho only bad thing is it's bad for your eyes.

otherwise it just takes adjusting- hence the 3D depth slider.

I want to try a 3DS. I had a dream once where I had one and my eyes hurt after 0.1 seconds of using it.

People call the 3ds stupid. It bothers me.
They will be stuck in an old generation, and the new games that come out will be for 3ds, and they will have no new games.
Whats wrong with it anyway?

Ever since it was announced that the 3D mode could hurt the eyes of 6-yr olds and younger, everyone went paranoid. Also, some people think the 3D is a gimmick.

Oh yeah, that too. The games are also a bit...pricey.

It is. You don't need things 'flying' at you to make it a better game.

I'm getting a black one on Sunday my uncle preordered it for me! Only problem is I have to pay him back. Luckily there is no time frame so I should be able to pay him back by the end of next school year.

+1
I wouldn't really buy the 3DS even if I was Billy Gates or Chuck Norris, because 3D stuff isnt THAT amazing... however, everybody has a different opinion, so its awesome that you like it!

I'm only buying the 3DS because my ds lite is about to break.
Current ds lite conditions;
Battery life < 3.5 hours
Sometimes freezes on start up
Slightly loose sound slider
Screen may flash on and off repeatedly in standby mode

To be honest, I haven't heard the 3D aspect called "gimmicky" by anyone who's ever tried the system. In fact, 3DS games supposedly take heavy advantage of depth to fix the problems of playing 3D games on a flat screen.
What problems? Think about it, on a flat screen, you have no sense of depth whatsoever, and you're just making guesses based on perspective. That's why it's so easy to miss what looks like an extremely easy jump.
The 3DS removes that limit for game devs, so they can make games the way they were meant to be played without dumbing down the levels like they've been doing for decades. That's the reason they have so many big-name developers on board; not because of some gimmick.
Anyway, that went on longer than I thought. Stopping.

If your eyes hurt, I heard the slider just above the medium setting is pretty good.
But yeah, I pre-ordered today. Some kid at school was talking about getting an iPhone. I started telling him how I would get the 3DS. He thought it sounded so good it would never come out.
but yeah i'm getting a blue one. yay.

No, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be more happy playing Flat-3D more than Full-3D.
Who said that games were meant to be Full-3D? More broader, who thought that having anything be Full3D would be a good idea? I can live with maybe an I-Max movie being Full3D, but I couldn't see myself watching TV like that...everyday. Much less playing a video game where there is even more things being shown.
I will admit Full3D is cool, just not something gaming companies should be focusing on right now.

It's not stuff flying at you as gimmicky tricks!
You guys are just narrow-minded. It has to do with depth, and the whole experience all together. It makes everything more realistic, and there are much better graphics.

I would be happy with a game head set (Which goes over your eyes and ears), game weapon (Zelda Style) and a 360 degree rotating treadmill with hydrolics. Now that would be awesome.

Flying was a general term. I meant the use of it. Not something games should focus on. Cruddy gameplay doesnt make up for the fact that its "OMG 3D!!!!".
And I disagree with you on the second part. Better graphics were bound to happen. Thats normal. Realistic ties in with graphics. Depth comes from gameplay/story, NOT 3D.
