So my parents agreed to pay half the money on any laptop I decide on. I don't want to pay too much for it, so max total price would be $500 to $550. The requirements kyats for it are:
At least 2.0 ghrtz
At least 4 gigabyte speed
At least 200 gigabyte harddrive
Should include Windows 7
So anybody know any computers that fit my standards, or a good site where I can look at laptops close to this?

This one is within your price range and seems pretty nice. You can't go wrong with a Phenom II x3 in there, and the iGPU isn't bad either. Plenty of HDD space, and it's a 7200rpm drive to boot.
Of course, you can always go to the laptop section of Newegg and look around. There's a very good filtering system that can be very helpful in finding you exactly what you want in your price range.

The best I can find is the Acer Aspire AS5740-6491, which meets your requests, but is $49 overbudget.

No need to get a Mac, Windows 7 is better then it's predecessors. Haroku's suggestion looks pretty good. I, of course, would put Linux on it instead of Windows. Much faster system.
Agreed. Of course, the OS depends on your use. If it's a main workstation, then I'd dual-boot. If it's mostly for the road, wipe the hard drive and install the Linux distro of your choice. Much more lightweight.
And to those who said Mac, come on. He said $500-550. Macbooks start at $1000, and those have worse specs than the $500 notebook I suggested. Windows 7/Linux are both excellent choices.

I've heard good things about Toshiba notebooks lately. And my friend just bought a low-end Vaio (more or less a Macbook equivalent) for about $500 on sale and he absolutely loves it. My advice is to go out shopping for them and find one that you really love using; unless you're doing really heavy graphics work or gaming, specs are going to be secondary to how the thing feels in your lap once you buy it!

I have a Toshiba too! They make really good laptops for a relatively low price! I got mine with a 1.8 GHz AMD dual core processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive for only $430! Of course, it was on sale
.
If you're looking for netbooks, they are very cheap and pretty functional. Acer makes really good netbooks, so buy an Acer netbookif you want, they are about half the price of a full size laptop!

The Toshiba looks good. Sorry, but I will not be getting a Mac:
A) price range
B) all our other computers are Windows, so transferring files can be a pain.
C) I grew up on Windows, I know it better.

Yeah, I really don't get what all the fuss is about macs.
I don't want to derail this topic, though. As I said, I got my laptop for $430 on Clearance from Office Depot, which was the last place I was expecting it to be, LOL!
My dad got the exact same computer for $500 not on sale!
And I can do EVERYTHING on it! I can play minecraft, program, and access the Scratch website at the same time, with no lag!
