We need a "Resolved" option in the forums

It's SO difficult to tell what threads to visit when you want to help out in the forums. That's because there is no indication of whether or not a question has been answered. I propose a bold heading in the topic title indicating "SOLVED or "UNSOLVED". It would be user imposed. That way when they felt a good answer was provided, it would be simple for them to  change it.

Currently users can ask moderators to close the forum topic, but this is kind of limited in the fact that in gives no indication of what caused the closing of the topic (solved, off-topic, irrelevant?). Given this, I think a "topic status" would result in a clean, more appropriate forum, where answers are found more easily.

Re: We need a "Resolved" option in the forums

This is an awesome idea, it would help not having to go through every topic to find one to post. I made a Scratch Suggestions page for it. I would really like that feature.  smile

And too many good ideas are overshadowed with Scratch Suggestions. I prefer forum topics.

Re: We need a "Resolved" option in the forums

But the Scratch Team doesn't care too much about the Suggestions forum anymore - and they sometimes ask people to use Scratch Suggestions when they see a nice suggestion.  hmm

This would be a nice thing to add, but it could be a bit complicated... :S

I don't think so. It wouldn't be EASY to add, but this is MIT we're talking about.  big_smile

Re: We need a "Resolved" option in the forums

I would LOVE this in the Suggestions forum at least - it's so annoying when you see resolved stuff over and over (that's why I made mah first guide :3)...

Re: We need a "Resolved" option in the forums

I've been on the forums for three years now (  yikes  ) and I totally see what you mean.  smile

However, I don't quite see how practical this is, as it would require individual, manual, painstaking processing of every single topic, which I'm afraid the moderating team does not have time to do.

For now, and if this doesn't get implemented,
just put a bolded, underlined, and colored "resolved" at the top of the first post.

But what if you don't own the thread?

The thing is, it would be user-specified (unless a mod wanted to come in an choose it). That way when the OWNER of the topic felt the question had been successfully answered, they could change the topic to "resolved" which would effectively close it.
