Ok guys, I have seen a lot of MACS DON'T GET VIRUSES around
! However, they do! The only reason that they don't get as many is they are based on the UNIX KERNEL (e.g. what Linux is). They also are less of a target as more people use Windows than Apple so they target the larger consumer product! If a lot more people were using Mac's than Windows, then they would start targeting apple users, and the war would wage still
. Another thing is that most virus creators are designed for Windows
Hope this helps!
(P.S. Do not start flaming me! This is to discuss why Mac's don't have as much trouble with virus's)

There was this competition for $20000 to make a virus for a mac. It got cancelled because the rules stated that the virus must have infected other users to win.
Making viruses is legal. It's only illegal when it manipulates or accesses data without user consent.
The only reason why most apple products don't get viruses is that apple controls everything. Windows is more open.

lol, including making software that can easily make viruses.
(one of my friends made a REALLY annoying program in VB that puts in random keypresses and clicks, which also creeps through the computer's directories, making copies of itself...)
Edit: [offtopic] what-the, there's a typo in your web site, scratchmitedu.weebly.com. it says "learn to program in an supportive community" when it should say "in a supportive community".

I could make one which clones it's self under different names and change its own coding to stop virus scanners from working.

Ok. Firstly Linux is derived from the Unix kernel, but it is completely different at this point. Secondly Linux or Unix are no more secure then Windows, they are simply much less popular and so have much less maleware. That is the only difference. Also they are not actually called viruses, they are called Maleware.

Hmmm, very well.
I shall create some deadly viruses that only destroy macintosh software
Yes..... this plan is genius

But wait, torrents, Zipped folders etc... etc... aren't monitored by Apple! You can get viruses from them
They still get viruses
