Not showing the moderator's name when a post edited.

Sometimes when a post is edited then and a moderator edit's someones post it shows the moderator's username. I suggest not showing the moderator's username, or only showing up for the moderators/admins so no one will get in an argument over it.

Re: Not showing the moderator's name when a post edited.

What exactly is the problem? Moderators usually just edit out little things like profanity or direct mentions of other users (in a calling-out sort of way). I've never seen any real arguments started over that.  hmm

They could get mad at the moderators.

That's their job, though.

Oh, btw, mods can hide their edit message, so they do it if they choose to.

If the person who wrote the message doesn't want anyone to know it was edited by a mod, then they just edit it again.

I thought that they weren't allowed to hide their edits
Most don't, but some occasionally have done it

We have a policy of not doing "silent edits" to others' posts so people know exactly who edited their post and when...it keeps us accountable for our actions.

The mods are just doing their job when it happens... and if it's done silently it can just make the user look innocent  tongue

^This pretty much says it all.  tongue

Us mods have control over whether or not our edits are "silent" or not; like what fulloom states, non-silent edits allows for users to see which moderator was responsible for doing what and keeps us mods accountable for our actions.

It's not to say we don't ever make our edits visible at all times - there are cases where even a silent edit is preferred over a non-silent one for practicality (example: changing a thread's title uses a silent edit).
