Recovering an Unsaved Project

I am feeling really down, because I had a really good project I was creating. It was an operating system. Than the text glitch appeared on me (The one where all the text disappears). This wasn't much of a problem. I would just save and go back in. However, my computer screen froze up, and the only way to stop the madness was to exit the project. Unfortunately, I haven't saved a single time yet. I've certainly learned to save every minute now of course, but now the whole thing is gone. I'm wondering if there is any way to get it back. It was really hard to make, and I certainly don't feel like making it again. Another thing similar happened with a previous emulator I was making that included my first 5 projects. I finished it, but unluckily, I could not open it again. It would just say it had an error reading that file. This was a major loss for me, but my other project was a bigger one. If there is any way anyone can think of, or even a question or anything else. I would GREATLY appreciate it. Even if you know the slightest bit on how I might be able to get a tiny nanometer of it back. PLEASE post how on this forum.  sad

Re: Recovering an Unsaved Project

Unfortunately, there's probably no way to retrieve your lost work. Sorry.  sad  At least it taught you to save periodically.

Ouch.  sad

If you don't save regularly, there's no way to restore your hard work. You learned the lesson the hard way.  sad

Re: Recovering an Unsaved Project

I save very 2 minutes, for that very reason.  Scratch should have an autosave.

+1. I save every 5 mins if it is large, but sometimes not at all if it will take two minutes.  hmm

You can?  smile

What exactly did you mean by "how I made it?" I don't remember the scripts. I have some of the images used.

At least you're focusing on helping me other than saying I made a mistake though.  smile

An autosave feature would be neat...

You can't get back unsaved projects. P.s. you can't back lost game characters for World of Warcraft by typing their name in the delete box

Re: Recovering an Unsaved Project

I once had a similar problem. Full shooter, 3d, 8 different guns, 10 different upgrades. I saved every 20 mins. I got off the computer, ate dinner, and got back on. After checking my e-mail I went over to scratch to work on my project a little more. File didn't load, and deleated from my computer. 4 hours straight of work. Gone. Just like that.

I think we have a great suggestion from this troubleshooting topic:
What if, Scratch automatically saves your project with the name 'recoveredproject.sb' when a bad bug happens. This should work very well.

Any thoughts on the suggestion then?

Re: Recovering an Unsaved Project

That's why I save after every script I put in  tongue

Anyway, you can't get it back entirely, but maybe you can try to re-plan it out (now that you know the end result) and use the old images to create a better version! At least there's some advantage to it...

I don't really think its worth it anymore. There were a lot of buttons I had to make. If I ever really want it back I might want to remake it.
