The past few times I've tried to import music into any of my sprites, I'll get the same pop-up saying the VM has crashed (I saved recently, at least!). Has anybody else had problems with this, and if so, do you know how to fix it? This would be a ton of help. Thanks.
(Note: When Scratch doesn't crash, it'll add the song I selected to the "Sounds" tab, but it won't play and will list the size as 0 KB. Anybody know what's going on here?)
EDIT: I can now get wave files to import correctly, but still can't get mp3s to import.

The format is just a normal mp3, and the song is 5.24 MB. I've imported larger files with no problem.

I remember there was a java update pretty recently, which could be causing the problem. Anybody else having this problem?

Java wouldn't have anything to do with this, since the offline Scratch application doesn't use Java in any way. Have you had this problem many times over many days, or just say, today?
I just noticed it today, and it happens with any sound file I try to import. But more often instead of crashing I get the "0 KB" bug.

Pardon the default answer, but have you tried rebooting the computer?

I haven't rebooted the computer, but converting the song I wanted into a .wav format seemed to work. The file size is now showing correctly, and I can play it just as long as it isn't an mp3.

Yeah, Scratch doesn't seem to like MP3's...

Hmm... Scratch can have trouble when asked to import mp3s that are encoded at higher than normal bitrates. This might be the cause. Converting to .wav format first is a good way to work around this pesky glitch.
