I'm sure it's been suggested a few times already, but I like the idea of a drop down menu that lists different reasons from inappropriate content to the fact that a topic is in the wrong area.
The typing box could still be their for additional details, but it would help newer Scratchers with reporting posts.

You're right - a lot of people just say "Can a mod close this?" Which works, but it's probably easier for you if the author just reports it.

I'd like the term "Report" to be changed, but I can't think of anything better. ^^
I do report topics for closure, though

It could be changed to 'Notify', although that doesn't seem quite right...

Whatever the change, it should probably be clear that the point is to call attention to the post for some (not necessarily bad) reason. Is there any one word that would do that? "Report" is a good word for that, but unfortunately has a negative connotation in message boards.
