Re: Scratch on portable devices...

I have not read all the pages so correct me if I missed something, or if this was already said.
Problems: 1. No flash on iPhones. However it is on Android phones, etc.
2. Can't save files (on device). Could be solved by only "uploading" to a cloud server. Not publishing to scratch but to a place only you can see when at you user page while logged in as yourself.
Even making projects would be difficult/nearly impossible right now. The best thing would be to make a Scratch app that lets you view projects on your mobile device.
EDIT: I just remembered, there is something called Skyfire for iPhone (a new browser, as opposed to Safari, that lets you see some flash videos ).

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

What about Scratch 1.5, or Scratch 2.0?
new block - <clear graphic stamps> it is a pen block.

What would the difference be from the [clear] block?

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

how come people think that it wouldn't work for operating systems other than ios. In my opinion ios is better but we have to remember there are going to be people who use windows mobile and andriod. Infact this was writen on my windows phone and I'm not going to be left out if scratch ever come to portabel devises! I'm a hacker who has been trying to find a way to put scratch on mobile without java and  hope that some one can solve th problems I'v not been able to solve.

There was, in fact, an app for iOS devices, but it got pulled from the App Store because Apple are rather controlling. I don't think anyone ever said there weren't any options other than iOS, it's just that, especially for the people who use this website, iOS is probably the most common.

try the PSP its graphis might be able to support scratch. you could dowdload off scratch (because PSP  can surf the internet) you could make it so you can use the D-pad or the left stick.

Yeah, but PSP has a very low memoy.  DSi has 16k to work with, so I think that it would work better with the DSi than PSP.

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

theres this cool app for iOS mobile platforms (ipod touch, iphone, and ipad) and android phones called pocketcloud (download the FREE version... the one u have to buy is 15 bucks.) What this does is it lets you control your computer from your phone and you can see almost anything thats happening on your computer from ur phone. It's really cool. If you have scratch installed then u can start using scratch from ur phone and view projects online.  big_smile  TRY IT OUT!!!

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

SO WANT THIS!!!! For problems with memory, here are some suggestions.
1.Store it online!
2. Allow projects to be made, but then stored online
3. JUST SAY IT USES UP TONS OF MEMORY!

Cloud Browse=$.99 for several minutes and crash and make you pay
But that is for the iphone/itouch and ipad.

iSwifter=$0 for one minute, closable interruption, restart with ease.
Also, iSwifter=donate profits to Japan, and games included.

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

I think that it would be a cool idea for all of these (especially the nintendo ds one)

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

What I think would be awesome is if a similar version to the computer version in terms of ability to do stuff, would be released for itouch & ipad.

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

I think it's possible to have Scratch for the Nintendo DS. If you have a flashcart/homebrew kit, download Squeak.nds (linked on the first page of this topic) and move it to the r4 card. Then, download the Scratch image file and also move that. You would need to code in an onscreen keyboard, but I think on the linked webpage there is one. So, enjoy Scratch on your Nintendo DS. (File saving and sharing probably wouldn't work, however. I'm sure we could get the Scratch Team to make things work.)

Re: Scratch on portable devices...

For the android, you can just use the flash player. But you can not access the keyboard.  sad
