Re: Massive Earthquake In Japan

Actually, hawaii is safe. It hasn't built up that much.

What's in danger is the west coast (of N.A.)

We had to write a journal entry about this today in school as a person from the renaissance.

Re: Massive Earthquake In Japan

I just saw this on the news. Apparently, the earthquakes are still going on, and Japan is not out of it yet. Also, because it is relativly flat, they may have to pump the water out once the disaster is over, much like New Orleans. One last thing: They are having trouble cool the nuclear reactors after they shut them down, and so now they evacuated everyone in a 3 kilometer (About 2 mile) raduis from around it.

I feel horrible for all those families destroyed by this. Japan however would probably be the best at dealing with disaters such as this because of the way their culture is designed, and the fact that they have the technology and economy to deal with it.

EDIT: Death Toll estimates, last I looked, were at about 1000.

Re: Massive Earthquake In Japan

Oh, my gosh.

I'm so sorry.

A lot of people survived, but still...  sad

Guys: Hawaii dosen't have a massive population sustained by farmland ruined by the tsunami.

A lot of the stores are sold out. I swear, how house is a bunker: 6 feet thick walls, a MASSIVE underground labyrinth of a foundation (I've been down there, it's HUGE), and reinforced windows. Our school was fine, too. Japan is the single best place for this to happen because of the VERY strict earthquake standards around here. The problem up north is that a lot of the buildings are old and rusting, and aren't up to many standards.

In the Last Big One for Japan, in 1923, the fires were the problem. This time around, it's the tsunami.

Wow. All that damage, and all those deaths.  sad

Re: Massive Earthquake In Japan

Possibly the worst earthquake Japan's had in 1200 years... Wow, that's awful.

Are all of you OK?

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

I saw the tsunamis on T.V., breathtaking, but terrifying. Earthquake about 12000 times worse than Christchurch. Each point the magnitude goes up, it's a thousand times stronger. I saw tsunamis sweep away glasshouses, carrying away thousands of cars, boats, houses, buses, and assorted debris. I'm just glad it didn't strike on land. THAT would have been nasty. It is anyway.  sad

Christchurch was worse because their buildings were older... but this is terrible  sad

I say neither - you mean 5th or 6th since they started recording them, right? :S
