Just a little question I need answering: Can I use a sound with a swear word in a project if I sensor the swear word? The sound has been used before without sensoring and it is a minor swear word. Although the other projects just had it as background music and thid is a music video of it.

I think you should sensor the word cause no matter what scratch is intended for little kids. I remember someone who put a bad word in one of his projects and I think he got banned or he quit himself.

Yeah. I'm just wondering what would happen if one of the little kids went and playedthe track without my sensoring scripts...

which swear?

Maybe change the track into something with a censor instead of making a sensoring script to block it.

No swears are allowed on Scratch.
I don't think a censor script would work very well... try using something like Audacity to edit the sound file.

I don't like swear words, don't add any please...!

If the song has a swear word in it, then the chances are that it may also have lyrics of questionable taste, possibly not suitable for Scratch... I don't know if that's the case, but keep that in mind...

Agreed with WeirdF. You should keep themes and mature ideas in mind as well as obviously explicit or inappropriate content. And like Jonathanpb said, you should edit the song with an audio program like Audacity. Timing tends to be off in the Java player, so it's likely that the censor scripts wouldn't even work properly online.

They should make an [add sensor to [sound] at time (num) for (num secs)] block

I've seen a project before that had music playing in the background. The song used one of the major swear words and to my knowledge, the project is still up. The song was "You're gonna go far kid" by The Offspring.
Either the word was overlooked, or it wasn't used in a necessarily bad way. (The exact sentence was "Now Dance [ ], Dance..." and that was the only swear word throughout the whole song, only repeated two more times.) Though to be on the safe side, I would avoid using any swear word since this site was intended for a young audience.

You should be flagging projects with swears in them

I do but I just wonder about censoring it without censoring it on the sound.

But people will still be able to hear the original sound by opening the project in Scratch...

I think you should censor it anyways because there are lots of very young kids on this website and I am also worrying for you because if you did not censor it you might get banned.

That's what I'm worried about

I really don't know... I've seen tons of videos w/ swear words and references to SWs and they didn't get flagged. If it's in a song and it isn't noticeable, and it isn't so complex of a project so if it gets flagged you will be in tears, try it. Don't blame me if you get flagged, tho.

I have no sound editing software...

Look for a clean version?
If not, just ask your friend or someone with audacity to do it.

I would just leave out the swearing, period. You don't ever want to take a chance at getting flagged or anything.
