My brother got navigated to a fake virus scan page on IE. I don't know if he clicked on it. I got out of it with Control+alt+delete. I found a program ARA.exe running. Is it harmful?

Do you know when the process was created, where the file is located, etc etc? That might give you a hint as to if it's from that. And while you're at it, why not run a virus scan? That might pick up something.

Search for it in your start up services. I turn off the stuff I don't need anyway.

Make sure the option to hide protected system files is off too. I've had viruses hide behind that little GUI layer.

Computer > Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > Hide protected operating system files.
