Zena's Paradox

Zena's Paradox is a theory that states you cannot go anywhere.

Example:
You want to get from Point X to Point Y. To get to Y, you have to first go half the distance. To do that you have to first go one fourths, then one eighths, then one sixteenths, and so on.

More on the paradox here.

Discuss the paradox and its impacts on our life, or ponder it in general, or ponder why we're able to get from Point X to Point Y anyway.

Re: Zena's Paradox

Ooh, that paradox is evil O_o

There was also a twist on that paradox: When will the clock hands overlap? The same thing applies  tongue  Of course, you can watch the clock and see the hands overlap... it's sort of amusing.

Re: Zena's Paradox

We're able to get somewhere because we can walk halfway to double the distance away from where we started.

What's the website you got this theory from
Because it doesn't work in practice

Only if you don't move past where the minimum amount you can move has been reached.

Or something

Re: Zena's Paradox

That's the thing that really gets me.

According to logic, we shouldn't be able to move anywhere.

And yet we do.

I'm still trying to figure out how this happens.

Re: Zena's Paradox

Graphing tangents, 1/x, and other formulas can prove this incorrect, as they literally reach a point 1/infinitieth distance from its destination and then ultimately pass it.

At least I think this is correct.
