If on my Ignore List, remove me from their Friend List

Sometimes I get nasty comments from users and ironically they've added me to my friend list (I dunno, I guess some sort of taunting?). I add them to my ignore list, but my name is still on their friend list, and I find that pretty disturbing.

I think the Ignore List system should be integrated with the Friend list, like in deviantART, in which adding the user to the Ignore List automatically cuts you from the person's Friend List.

Note:
I am NOT talking about the separation of the current Friend List into two lists, one for friend and one for following (see my other suggestion Improving the Friend's List on Scratch for more info about that)

What I'm really talking about thought is real cut-off. When discussing this idea, let's assume that my original idea for a separate Friend List and Watch List was implemented and that there is still the issue that you would still appear on the Friend or Watch list of someone you put on the your Ignore list.

I've never heard of anyone doing that (maybe everyone just likes me, that's why they don't do it  tongue )... but I'll support anyway.

Re: If on my Ignore List, remove me from their Friend List

Right now, friends list is used as more of a subscription to a user's projects than an actual friends list. For example, you may dislike the person, but like their projects. You should still be allowed to subscribe to them.

Erm, adding a user on your Ignore List prevents a user from seeing or commenting on your projects and galleries (or, in the even that the user does stumble on the projects or galleries, any comments made are muted).  hmm

But aside from that fact, this isn't so much of a subscription issue - people add me as a friends all the time as a subscription even if I may not necessarily like them or if I don't know them, I have nothing against that. What I'm talking about is that sometimes I'll get nasty comments from users who ironically add me as a friend, and because they pester me I'll add them to my Ignore List - however, because they added me as a friend, I still appear on their Friend List. I don't want to appear on their Friend List because it is misleading; I don't think anyone would want to be seen as a friend of someone they ignored on the website.

Support.

Maybe have 2 lists, one a "Subscription List", and one an actual "Friend List"?

Also, the title sounded like a Scratch script xD

Re: If on my Ignore List, remove me from their Friend List

I like how twitter calls it "follow".
I "follow" someone because they post/make stuff I like.  It helps me track them, and I'm recommending them to others that see my profile.

"Friend" implies a mutual relationship based on what we think of each other as a person... and I think it complicates things.

If someone "follows" me, but I don't "follow" them back because they don't make stuff I like, it's not as big of an emotional slap in the face, as it might be with "friend."
And I don't think we would mind as much if an "enemy" is "following" us (and promoting us), than one claiming they're our "friend."

If someone is really my "friend", and we want everyone else to know, we can still comment and announce that we're "friends"... or make a project about our "friendship".

Twitter also lets you "block" the user, from following you.  Yeah, that may be helpful for Scratch whether we call it friend or follow.

Re: If on my Ignore List, remove me from their Friend List

This would be nice, but if you think about it, it would allow you to control their Friend List so I could just add everyone to my ignore list and then I would be taken off their list and then I could remove them all from the ignore list. It would be very annoying to do that to other Scratchers', rude and obnoxious. Any solution to that?

I like that idea, mainly because many people add me to their friends list when I don't want to be "friends" with them.  I'm for example, a user called add_me_to_your_friends  added me as a friend.  I don't like that.  It's annoying.  however, if someone is kind, and not forceful like "add_me_to_your_friends", then usually I friend them back.

BTW, I agree.

Uh, one thought - people could abuse this feature (I don't know why they would do that though). Eh, I think it's fine  big_smile

I suggested that idea a while back, it's under review (see here).  tongue

Since dA has that feature, I've have to admit that I've done that on dA in order to remove myself from the friend list of people I did not want to be on. I don't really see the logic of being called a friend when, in reality, that is clearly not the case and I've blocked that user.
