I understand your point of view, but, this is madness. Let scratchers do what they want! Besides being rude or showing 'bad' things of course.
It's distraction of the masses. Crowd theory. They've been tricked that that's the best Scratch is capable of, when it clearly isn't.
I pretty sure 08jackt, Swifty2, and Spritemaster would quickly show that thats not what scratch is all about.
You mean 08jackt.
Spritemaster has some air bubbles and prolonged jokes, AMAZING.
And Swifty's been pushing his character too long.

This should really get closed. Too much flame war risk.
Um... It already is... And you just happen to be seriously flamebaiting...
(And so am I, but I wanted to make that point.

I commented a lot on the project. I tried not to say it in a mean way but I think some may have come out that way.

I've just thought. There are some scratchers which (IMO) don't deserve to have 'fame'. But once you have fame you always have fame, no matter the standard of your project. But for people to get fame they need to do something really good. But then why do some (not naming anyone) change the quality of their projects?
What I mean is, they had to be good at the beginning, so if they were able to do that, why can't they now?

I would like to point out that this is hardly the first time that we have seen "gimmick" projects make the front page. It is, after all, simply a question of popularity and getting views/loveits. I don't think it spells the "End of Scratch" (play ominous music here). People visiting the site for the first time might be a bit confused by them...but they have all the other front page categories to look at to get a better idea of what Scratch is capable of.
However...I will say that, while I find it amusing, I have a problem with the LOL exercise. And it comes down to sharing space on the front page. As you probably know, we have logic built-in to the front page to not allow more than one project by any single author on the front page at the same time. This was done to help keep the front page diverse and keep it from being dominated by popular Scratchers - and I think it's a great feature. I don't think it's fair for anybody to use alternate accounts to defeat this mechanism and get more than one project on the front page at a time. If the LOL exercise had been a coordinated collaboration between three different Scratchers, I think it would be fine.
Note that the above is my personal opinion and not the opinion of the Scratch Team as a whole. All I can say is that the matter is under discussion

I agree with Paddle. While it is odd for gimmicky project to reach the front page, this is hardly a new occurence. I remeber Archmage got a project there that was just the scratchcat saying random things. It is hardly a cause for great concern.
As for the LOL project, I think you guys are creating the problem that you are trying to solve. Gaining the front page through a gimmick in order to protest against gimmicks is hypocritical, and it just doesn't work. It gives the idea to other scratchers, and then they try to do it, and the problem is not solved. Why would you want three projects like that on the front page anyways, when other, more deserving projects will be pushed out by those?
I am dissapoint.

Oh God, they're six love-its from winning. What do we do?
@ag Not the Nom idea, that's a tad hypocritical, even if it is sarcastic.

I realize that now.

why don't you make an announcement project instead of that "nomomomomomomom" thing? I would but Scratch isn't available right now

No one will notice. They have a full nine days to keep their joke Top Loved. We're done.
Just as now no one will notice this post due to the page change.
