MagiCaleb- new, need help

Hey, I'm new, and need help saw this from a friend and love it. How do you make things jump?!??!?!! I have downloaded other videos to see how, but it just is to confusing, with    the variables and all.


So could someone please explain how to make people jump, and what variables are.
