Wait. There is a loader app. How long does it take to load?
Open it and install cydia. Then close the app, the device restarts. Open loader again, go to settings, and Remove Loader.app. Close the app again. Wait for the device to finish respring (restarting springboard), then open Cydia.

Not too long. You only do it once.
Once you open cydia for the first time it initializes the file system. Once it's done, it resprings. Then open cydia again and upgrade essential, reboot, then install what you want.

Maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and you only have to do it once.

Is your iPod Touch MC model? I successfully jailbreaked mine! It is an...
iPod Touch 2nd Gen MC Model
iOS4.2.1
Jailbroken with GreenPois0n
To know if it is an MC model, go to Settings>General>About
Another reason why it might be "failing" is that you THINK it has crashed. The iPod actually turns black for a minute or two, then it turns white, then it displays that some files are missing (In which case, it would start to download[This may take some time]). Tell me exactly what happens, Im an expert in this

I tried Greenpois0n again and I got to the point where I got to "User, Hacker, or Developer". What do I choose? I don't want to damage it at all. Except the warranty thing. IDK about that.
