Uploading Music

I keep trying to import music into m projects, but the only some of the Windows Media Player Files will work, and re-recording the songs doesn't work.  If you know how to make songs scratch-functional, please tell me.

download Audacity and change the songs to WAV file type, that always works

Re: Uploading Music

Also remember that Scratch projects can not be over 10 MB, but it is possible to run sound compression from Scratch (its in the Extras menu) to help keep the size down.

Re: Uploading Music

Thank you, but I am not able to download anything to get it to work, so I will try the sound compression.

Re: Uploading Music

I tried sound compression, but it seems that you don't quite understand.  I cant even get the sounds into Scratch.

Scratch only excepts .mp3 and .wav file formats

Re: Uploading Music

Hi, Comcastc99.

There are many sounds formats (some proprietary) that Scratch cannot import.

dingdong's suggestion of using Audacity to save the sound as a WAV file should allow you to import it into Scratch. Audacity is a free download.

Or, if you have a microphone, you may be able to play the sound while using Scratch's sound recorder to record it. You lose some quality, but it works surprisingly well. On Windows, you can sometimes get Scratch to record directly from the sound that is playing on your computer without going through a microphone, although I can't recall exactly what you have to do to make this work. Something with the sound control panel, I think.

Good luck!

I could not find a software solution...so I patched the headphones jack into the microphone jack.  Worked quite well!
