A history question: WWI

I'm not in the habit of asking for homework help from Scratchers, but I just can't find this anywhere, so I thought I'd ask. I can't just take your word for it, so could you point me in the direction of a website that answers my question? Thanks.

Did Britain and France ever pay back the money the US lent them at the beginning of the war ($2.3 billion in total)? When? My history teacher said something about the US lending money to Germany after the war so Germany could pay back France and Britain so they could pay back the US, but I can't find that anywhere. I'm writing an essay, and I don't want to include false information.

Re: A history question: WWI

i don't know the answer to that question, but I do know this: today, the last surviving veteran of WW I died. That's it. No more people who have fought in WWI are still alive.

Tell that to your history teacher for bonus points  smile
