It's a really great series. Who knew two companies' franchises duking it out would be so good? Fun fact: The series has it's roots in two fighting games called "X-Men: Child of the Atom" and "Marvel Super Heroes", made by Capcom. Capcom was given the rights to Marvel characters and franchises to make games about them. Since they had the rights, they figured "why not make a crossover?" It was then that the series was born. It's fortunate that Capcom made the deal with Marvel, because it spawned one of the greatest series out there.
A similar deal was made with SNK: Capcom vs SNK. It started when gaming magazine Arcadia had two articles: One about King of Fighters '98, and the other about Street Fighter Alpha 3. Both were released around the same time. However, readers misread the cover, which said "KOF vs SF", which would imply a game that pitted characters from the respective franchises against eachother. Because of this uproar, Capcom and SNK supposedly signed a contract allowing both companies to make two fighting games each that would pit the companies' franchises together. (The Card Fighters Clash series doesn't count, as it isn't a fighting game)
So basically, they're both great game series. You should try them out. If you still have a Dreamcast, see if you can pick up copies of Marvel vs Capcom 2 or Capcom vs SNK 2. Now what do we need? Ah yes: Marvel vs Capcom vs SNK!

Why did I not mention any other game? I just mentioned those two games because I think those ones are especially great. Plus, I know some people who don't even know MvsC3 is even out.
