You could not make cheesecake without cream cheese. Cream cheese is important for cheesecake.

So William Lawrence from Chester New York had some experience with cheese and other dairy products. William Lawrence from Chester New York was trying to make some very fancy cheese. This very fancy cheese wasn't from America. This very fancy cheese was from France. This very fancy cheese was called something long and fancy. This very fancy French cheese with a very long and fancy French name was called Neufchatel. Neufchatel, the very fancy French cheese with a long and fancy name that I, being an English-only speaker, do not know how to pronounce, was the cheese William Lawrence from Chester New York was trying to make when he invented cream cheese, supposedly.

In 1880, "Philadelphia" was used as the name of William Lawrence from Chester New York's cream cheese. You may be wondering, "Philadelphia? I thought William Lawrence was from Chester New York, as you seem to be repeating it so much!" But Philadelphia was considered to be the home of "top quality" food back then, so I guess William Lawrence from Chester New York wanted people to think his American cream cheese was the best American cream cheese, but my sources say it was the only American cream cheese. You may be wondering, "So what? It's just cheese." But if you are wondering that, then you my friend are very very very wrong. It is not just cheese- it is CREAM (also known as soft) cheese, thank you very much.

CREAM (also known as soft) cheese is very important to society today. People use cream cheese every where you look I tell you- They put it on their bagels, their bread, their cupcakes, their muffins, their children, their cheesecake (though actually cheese cake is pretty much made from cream [also known as soft] cheese), and many other pastries and foods.
Without cream (also known as soft) cheese, some people would never even think of eating a bagel. Eating a bagel could save someone's life for all we know. For all we know, soft (also known as cream) cheese is some foreign country's national food. Perhaps their national anthem is even written to honor the cream (also known as soft) cheese. Cream/soft cheese is much more important than you may have thought.

Cream cheese is not necessarily the most healthy spread for bread, bagels, and pastries (though it is probably much healthier than the average spread, it's still far from being the most healthy) and because so many people love it's soft, creamy, moist, texture and use it everywhere, it can be found to be one of the causes of obesity, which is a growing problem in the United States and many other countries. Without cream cheese, we ("we" being the inhabitants of the world) would not have cheese cake, which is one of America's favorite deserts. Without cheese cake, many businesses would no longer make a profit, and many people would be on the streets. Without cheese cake, there would be very few options on desert menus. Without cheese cake, that one guy wouldn't have won that Bake Off on the Food Network, and his family would probably have been very disappointed in him (even though they'd probably lie and tell him that they're happy he made it as far as he did). Cream cheese is very important to the world's economy, and entertainment today as well.

Cream cheese has also been the focus of many pieces of art today, and in the past. Without cream cheese to paint, sculpt or draw, many emotional young children would be on the streets doing who knows what. If these children didn't have cream (also known as soft) cheese, their country's streets would probably not be safe because of all of the inspirationless children running about without anything to do. So cream cheese may be the reason why you can (or cannot) safely walk from your home to the grocery store (where you may or may not be purchasing cream [also known as soft] cheese).
