Recently I have seen some new scratchers posting some things they shouldn't in advanced topics, like that one troll who posted the topic "Super advanced programming question" in advanced topics, but all he asked was how to make the scratch cat spin in circles. Of course, it was a troll topic, but some new scratchers are asking simple questions in advanced topics that belong in All About Scratch or are just spam. I think that advanced topics should be blocked for new scratchers, and once they become a scratcher, they will become more knowledgeable in scratch and won't post things that don't belong in the Advanced Topics forum. In fact, all I really see posting in advanced topics for the most part are regular scratchers, so I don't think it will be much of a difference. Please consider my suggestion!

it's all in perspective.as scratch gets older, new idea come in with it.as a new scratcher, you wouldn't know about kaj, physics or even how to make a sprite turn.to them, these topics seem advanced.
there is a difference between All About Scratch and Advanced Topics.all about scratch is usually tutorials.advanced topics are usually ,well, about advanced topics.
banning new scratchers from Advanced Topics isn't such a great idea.it would be yet another restriction for new scratchers.
don't stereotype new scratchers.some are brilliant.then some aren't but scratch is for everyone.your suggestion just wouldn't be right.

Agreed. Advanced topics are rarely advanced. TVflea, while it may seem advanced to a new person, it is advanced to a new person but not advanced to somebody who has used scratch for what... 5 minutes?
Advanced topics IMO should be something you can't figure out within a day.

Just to make a comment on the troll post That was a teacher wanting to know how to do something because he didn't know if it was advanced or not. I don't think advanced topics should be blocked to people who are new but are expecienced. I spent about a year not on the website but still programming and when I came back I had to make a new account because I couldn't get back on my old one which I'd forgetten the password for it. Think about all the test accounts of people with good programming ability.

hacking scratch and altering a blocks properties or functions is pretty advanced.most of the tropics there are about computer code.that, also is very advanced.these are even advanced for my dad who is a computer programmer at the University of Arizona.

while some scratchers only make projects circles dancing around the screen, some make games with physics and a good story.
what would a new scratcher do if he wanted to discus how the make a sprite save the loudness of a sound and play it back but he needed a block that sensed pitch.he wanted to see if anyone else had the same idea and wanted to see if they could make that block together but he couldn't because your suggestion was passed and he couldn't post in Advanced Topics and it wasn't really an All About Scratch post.
most ALL of your suggestions aren't fair to other scratchers.you need to think of these things and how it will impact scratchers new or old.i'm sorry but it isn't a good suggestion.

I second this suggestion. Too many new Scratchers are filling Advanced Topics with not so advanced things. Although, I think that there should be a page telling you information and rules about Scratch that you are re-directed to right after an account is made.

I used it a little when I was new.
EDIT: I just tied with my TBG post count!
Cool.

i'm a new scratcher and i think i should have a say in this and i say NO!!!.
Sure.
AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE A COMMENT LIKE THAT ON ONE OF MY PROJECTS, OKAY????????? I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT ALL NEW SCRATCHERS, JUST SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry about that, but you don't have to be all mean like you were in that comment T_T.
I'm just trying to make a suggestion here, okay? And plus, it's not really up to you. It's mainly up to the scratch team to see if this is fair.

well, maybe you can make it so new scratch members can't make new topics but they can still post.
