If you're recording already, you're gonna want some decent mics or another way to, well, record your sound    And a program to record and mix your songs of course, like FL Studio.

About the pedals I'm not sure, I only know I'm getting a FAB Metal sometime cuz they sound awesome for the price.    Try checking here for some reviews on pedals.

You might want a better amp too if you don't have one already (assuming you play guitar or bass). It affects the sound more than the guitar itself. 

As for finding them cheap I don't know, I live in Chile.    It'd help a lot if you described what you think the band's sound needs. What bands have inspired you? It might help checking out other musician's rigs to get an idea.

Of course, of course. I will get some from M's F. Yeah we have Bass and Guitar. I play the bass, but when I tell people, they always ask "Upright?" Who plays an Upright Bass?!?!?!???!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Well there's always a possibility of it being upright, and at ultimate-guitar.com many bassists play both electric bass and upright.    Some pedals you could experiment with on bass are fuzz (Christen Woltenholme [or whatever] from Muse and Cliff Burton from Metallica are some examples) and wah, especially if you plan on making a bass solo because they're awesome.    On guitar, I don't know, there's many. For guitar try a better distortion and maybe chorus and delay for some trippy cleans.

Again, I'd like to know what kind of sound you guys are aiming for since what I'm recommending are just personal opinions.

I use Fender guitars, the Squier brand.

Get a Yamaha keyboard. I love mine. You can do all these effects, and it takes forever to figure out (I still am and I've owned it forever) Don't get a mixer because alternative rock doesn't need that stuff, right? That's for a more electronic genre. And I'm in a band too. *High fives*

I don't have a Yamaha keyboard, only my brother's lame Casio one D:

And yeah talkboxes are fun to mess with    I think Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer has some riffs with a talkbox.
