What does sticky mean?

I don't mean sticky like: That's sticky goo. I mean like in the forums where it says:

Sticky:Insert topic name here.

Stickies have been "pinned" to the top of the forum by a mod or member of the Scratch team. They're usually there because they contain important information relating to the forum that they're in.

They're important, helpful topics that the sticky keeps up at the top of the page so they never get lost behind other posts.
