FLASH animator? I would say flash, but you said free and basic. I don't think there are any basic flash animators, what do you mean by flash animator anyway?

You could try to get into Stencyl beta(or wait for it to go public, it will soon). I don't really know how you use it, but maybe you could try Fixel as well.

If you want to animate in flash, I only know of flash. Flixel I thought was for other things, but I'm probably mistaken, and stencyl is terrible for animation. But it's public release "spring 2011".

Flex. It's Flash cut down a bit, but is still made by Adobe.

Or get a key generator and get Flash illegally.
