When I first started scratch, I believed that scratch had capability that most ignored. That anything someone could imagine could be created. I still believe that to this day. Scratchers can always create something never seen and what most say would say impossible, to make other scratchers pause for a moment and say, "I can make that" instead of hiding their imagination in false thoughts of "it can't be done, why try?". I have hoped for 5 years, that this community could change. That this community will no longer mask their ability. That this community will not lose hope in the program! For all scratchers to get inspiration off of each other without copying each others work.
That is my dream community, to have as many scratchers as possible feel my same thoughts, to take the first step in a greater next generation of scratch creation.
Here is a project I have worked very hard on to give you my example of what you can be capable of, and remember that you can always have the ability to surpass it.

That dream, I have to say, is really deep Chaotic.
I did just want to get famous here at the beginning, I mean, a lot of people do. But the real purpose of scratch is exactly what you're saying.
Imagine • program • share
Its right under the banner in the top left. And you're totally right.
Before Scratch, I had these amazing ideas for animation, but I had no where to make them. Heck, I didn't even know how to animate, just draw.
But then my friend 1stCorinthians told me about Scratch, and it gave me the opportunity to learn how to animate and actually animate things.
I've been using Scratch one month shy of a year, and I've mastered all the scripts used the most to animate.
That project is amazing, and thats just the intro.
5 years, is such a long time most would just give up on it, but you didn't, and thats amazing. Now you look at the result, and you see how the time and effort you put into it has payed off.
The game comes out on my friends birthday, 4 days after mine, Lol.
But I can't wait to see it.

It took me a long time to be able to create good sprites and animations. I joined scratch myself because I was told good games couldn't be made on it. You said one thing that bugs me though, never say that you have mastered something, there is always more that can be learned about programming. April 30th is my birthday too, tell him I said happy birthday and same to you.

Not self advertising, it's not about my project, its about the community seeing an example that anything can be done on scratch. Most need proof to be able to accept it. If the community didn't need proof, we wouldn't have so many quitting or commenting negative thoughts. If I didn't have the thoughts for the reason of this forum, my project would NOT be released on scratch.

You know what? I take my last comment back thinking about your comment, it doesn't create a good answer for you. How can you criticize the concept that I am trying to give to people? What makes you better than the beginner starting on scratch when you perceive the same thoughts? You act as if I am bending everything towards my own project. Would you like me to cancel my projects? I could delete this user and make a brand new one without caring about my reputation. I could tell everyone right now that I quit because the community I have spent 5 years working to make a point refuses to acknowledge the reason for my work. You think that I want to advertise? If I have most scratchers feeling your feelings when my project releases, I will delete the project on scratch for it serves absolutely no purpose for me releasing it. I have never created projects for popularity or fame, I never will. I make projects online, on scratch, because I try to create thoughts to new scratchers starting that they can create anything and not stop working because they feel they cant accomplish something on scratch. If one of my projects gets front page, it helps that cause because when someone new to scratch visits the site, its there in front of them to see, making them want to be a part of the community with positive thoughts from the start. I will be honest, I am also making projects as a basic design for me to recreate in a future programing language, but that has nothing to do with releasing anything online. I could just make my projects on my computer, I don't have to upload anything if there isn't a reason to do so. So if for one second you think that im doing this for myself, you are wrong. And if you still believe your comment is true above, you do not know what scratch was created for and have no reason to be here except for wanting your status raised, because you are not a true member of the community, you are a loner searching for power hiding in a mask.
Is there anyone else that believes I am here right now for my own personal goals?
WE ARE SCRATCHERS, WE ARE HERE TO LEARN FROM EACH OTHER, WE ARE HERE TO CREATE A FEELING OF ACCOMPLISHMENT IN OTHERS WHICH SHOULD DOMINO EFFECT UNTIL THE WEBSITE IS NO MORE AND STRENGTHEN, NEVER FADE.

Holy cow. I wanted to inform you of how the connotation to your paragraph felt, I didn't really mean that. Sorry if my subtle joke came out too harshly. Now that I look back on it, it does seem way too brusque, and that's completely my fault. Curse text's inability to convey voice inflection.

I appreciate you for replying as well as explaining to me your intentions to the comment. My own apologies if I seem to uptight, but this isn't a topic that I feel needs joking. I am a very serious person when it comes to my beliefs about this, and your comment not only made me feel like the above, but the reply from another scratcher below your comment that he/she agreed with you made me more of an agitated state. I understand your comment slightly better now, but it worries me about what the replier got out of your comment for agreeing. Thank you for clarifying and I accept your apology. Now, I would like to see others comment thoughts below about what they think of this entire forum, because I actually think that my long reply to you will help them understand more.

ChaoticD, I loved the intro and I can't wait to see the game. I like the style of animation you used. The fact that it is non-liner. It reminded me of the style used at the beginning of James Bond movies, etc. Nicely done.
It got me thinking though. Seeing all the scratch games on this site, I often wonder if ANYONE puts time into making a real quality game. I see too many stick figures, scribbles, and poorly thought out animations here. And, don't get me started on all the coloring contests, and worse: add yourself to this project. Yuck!
When I make a game, I spend incredible amounts of time creating the graphics first. As, I feel that if a game doesn't look good, it's not worth playing. I've had ideas for games and had to throw them away because I couldn't make good enough graphics to support the idea. For example of something that worked, my latest game, Star Trek, took me more than 20 solid hours to prepare the graphics. The last 10 hours was spent on actual programming. So, I spent two-thirds of the time on graphics and only one third on programming. That's it! I think it really came together well.

I also like to use Scratch in a way it wasn't necessarily intended. I like to push it to the limits. For example, my game Adventure. I had seen other people use lists as output devices before, but never with a template to hide the fact that it was a list!
Adventure: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/BoltBait/1516358
By the way, to see how graphics can really change the perceptions of a game, compare my Alien Pinball game with Paddle2See's pinball project. The programming is almost identical. The only thing I really did was dress up the graphics! I got 219 "love it" compared to his 25. And, that's not due to popularity--he's way more popular than I am.
Alien Pinball: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/BoltBait/687332
Paddle2See Pinball: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Paddle2SeeFixIt/681997
I was really pleased to see GRIVEN by bentheneighbor released recently. Wow. That's a real quality project. It has it all, amazing graphics, wonderful sounds, and perfect puzzles. I want to see more projects like that!
Griven: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Bentheneighbor/1448075
Assassin Bronx was another project that I saw recently that really impressed me. Not so much for game play, it is very simple. But, it really pushes Scratch in ways that I don't think it was intended. A 3D, first-person-shooter? Really? Yup. I really can see potential in a game like this. Now, if only it had various paths you could take it would really be a winner.

Don't get me wrong, there are some scratchers here that consistently pump out quality games. And, for them I am eternally grateful!
m44, Midecah, RHY3756547, Shanesta, Bentheneighbor, Cryteria, and others!
And, there are other people consistently researching new ways to use Scratch and documenting how to simulate things, like gravity.
Paddle2See, archmage, AddZero, etc.
I owe much to them!

Art always seems to tale the longest to make on a project. But I disagree with you on a point. You say you threw away ideas for games because the art was not what you wanted. This shouldn't be the case, you should hold on to that idea until you have the knowledge in the future to create it how you want. When I first started making projects, the quality was not the best in some eyes but I deleted all of my old projects for one reason. To upgrade them into something more no matter how long it takes. My ZEWQX game which released 4 years ago was deleted and has been entirely revamped with a completely different concept than I had before. When you say that a lot of scratchers don't put a lot into projects, I also disagree. Most of these scratchers that create these stick figures ect. will eventually move on to make more advanced projects as they get more familiar with the style. Others feel that even though some people can create very intense games, they have no chance to make something like them. That doesn't make their projects bad or good. What one of the attempts of this forum i wrote is to find these scratchers and have them understand that they CAN create something just like the above, that they CAN make great art, it just takes time to do so and that if they have that set of mind, they can change more rapidly. If they look back at their old work and their new, they should say "wow, look what i started from" and strengthen their thought that they can do more. They put time into their games, they just don't think they can create the next step. I see too many comments from people on "this is the best game on the site". Sure, thats very nice, but it actually makes beginners stop trying to move forward and say "i have reached my potential" when it shouldn't be that way. quality is not the key to the locked box of this site, it's the ability to have people understand that they CAN keep making greater things and that no matter who you are, no matter how long it takes, if you believe you can, you will. those stick figure scratchers should understand this, and they should always think of their older projects as past steps to better things, to a new understanding, an accomplishment. you need steps before you can walk up them, and an elevator will only hide them away.

Nonsense, if anything it was our fault for writing easily misunderstand-able comments. The only problem with your speech is that it sounds like you are saying "my project is so incredible that it proves anything is possible in Scratch." Just add a touch of humbleness into it and it'll be fine.

i edited it, is it better now? i do agree with you, it did sound like that... i was just trying to give an example of something i made because of my feelings toward this subject. i recommend other scratchers to post project names here too, like some have already.

Much, much better. See, now it not only shows your project as an example of capability, but it also promotes others and encourages them that they can also do so. That's now become quite the inspiring speech.

Nice project, very well animated and looks like it will be awesome. I hope the game gets completed, I've seen far too many super-elaborate opening credits that look amazing but are never turned into full games.
And as for the speech, well, MLK has nothing on you.
