Now see, its impossible to prove the bible wrong because that is the only written record from that timeframe. However, there is nothing to prove it right either. And I don't think the flood happened or al of those references to mythical creatures in it exist buuut they could be just some storys in a really old book.  It would be hilarious if 2000 years from now we find out that harry potter became a religion.    No offense to any christians out there.

The bible is basically one religion. each religion's books (like the Bible and Torah) say different things that contradict each other and science. but how else will they prove the universe was created without tests? Plus, it is just a THEORY, not fact (yet)

But seriously, even if scientists DID destroy everyone, I'd be happy dieing with the knowledge of what exactly created the universe in the first place. I doubt doomsday will come any time soon, so don't run around outside like a maniac proclaiming the end of the world.

For all those interested in the biblical prophecies of the world ending, read the book of Revelations, the last book of the bible. It's some pretty interesting stuff. Even if you DO believe in the end of the world and God, you'd know he (or whatever gender God is) would bring you up to heaven during the rapture.

Every time science can't explain something, religion is there as its placeholder!
Let me ask you, if God created the universe, what created god? Is the idea of the universe existing forever (time is an illusion) more preposterous than a sentient being with power over everything existing, also forever?
I'm not siding with anyone. Anyway, this may be the inspiration section, but religion really isn't the best topic to be discussing on these forums...
Even if the original topic was about Black Holes magically defying gravity and expanding to "eat" earth... hahaha

It seems ashame for those who are religious to feel threatened by this method for observing.  I wonder why those who are religious do not embrace science since science is the act of paying close attention to how the (observable) world behaves.  If you believe the world is the creation of a god or gods then being respectful of the world and trying to look at all its details is really an admiration for that creation. 

The scientists that I know love the world.  They find the world fascinating and respect that there are things that can be observed that we still know so little about.

Everyone knows that scientists simply sit around cackling at their mad inventions while murdering puppies and such.

Actually they are going to smash stuff later. When they do, I bet 2000$ that we survive. Win win for me because if we don't, I won't be around to pay it and if we do, I gain 2000$. Just like scientists betting on whether the atmoshpere would light on fire when we tested the atomic bomb for the first time.
