It was probably the title that dragged you in here, eh? What an exciting concept here. A PORTAL MOVIE! How awesome it THAT? As it turns out, it's relatively simple to make. Oh, when I say "relatively easy", I mean easier than other methods for making a feature-length movie. The actual method for doing this is HARD, but you just need to know some programming skills, that's all. What is the method for making a Portal Movie? Simple: Source Film Maker.
Now I know what you're wondering: "WHAT IS SOURCE FILM MAKER?!?" Simple. If you've seen the "Meet the Team" promotional videos for Team Fortress 2 or the intro/trailer for Left 4 Dead, then you've seen Source Film Maker. That's right, THAT'S Source Film Maker. Notice how higher the quality is compared to the actual games, so you're getting something you didn't expect here. Basically, Source Film Maker lets you record yourself from inside the game doing, well, whatever you want. Here's the cool part: there's a skeletal animation system that let's you do actions not possible normally in the game. (That's how "The Rubber Heavy" was made) AND you can also record yourself in the same scene over and over to make it look like there's more actors than there really are. So yeah, this is great and all, but NOW you're wondering "I CAN'T SEE ANY REFERENCES TO VALVE DISTRIBUTING IT! WHERE IS IT?!?" Simple, they didn't. Valve won't officially release it until the final Meet the Team video is released. BUT that video isn't released yet, so WHERE DO YOU FIND IT?!? Simple: in the very first release of TF2. And by first, I mean the pre-release beta version. There's another problem: since it was released within the TF2 beta, it ONLY WORKS IN TF2. So, how do we make a PORTAL movie? One time, I found this video. The description reads as follows:
Video Description wrote:
So far it's basically TF2 in Portal maps, but we're getting there. Sorry about the blatant audio offsync.
I think the audio offsync part was because YouTube messed up the audio in the uploading process, but LOOK! He imported Portal maps into TF2. If you've seen my thread about the Portal Gun in Half-Life 2, you should know how he imported the maps. Well, this is a start, but he's only imported a map. What about character models and character ragdolls? Well lookie here, someone imported a character model into TF2. And another one. How 'bout that? With the right stuff, you COULD make a Portal movie!
Or any other Source game movie, really. What would YOU make with Source Film Maker?

The story isn't exactly long enough to fill a movie, is it? I mean for a game it's fine, but for a movie?
Unless it's a short film.

Meh, that's the real problem with making a Portal movie.

Maybe add onto it. Chell breaks out, GlaDOS sends the Cooperative Initiative robots after her and they engage in a Portal deathmatch. Now that I would like to see.

I would put "LOLOLOLOLOLOL", but that's for noobs who haven't evolved yet. But still, that's pretty much it. I'd make a fake Meet the Team video. Maybe..."Meet the Freeman"?

Just a question, what kind of videos would you make in Source Film Maker?

This was a triumph
I'm making a note here
HUGE SUCESS
It's hard to over-state my satisfaction
Apeture science...
Doing what we must because we can
For the good of all of us
Exept the ones who are dead
But theres no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive.

Bump, and added tutorials too!
Be careful, as tut. #4 contains some explicit language.

Maybe you could do what they did with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children:
Long slow mo fight sequences. Maybe you could add some of the things they didn't include in the game, like Portal Kombat, or Office Spaces...

That's odd, I remember something like that in a flash animation I found somewhere...
