Hey guys (and girls) from misc!
I haven't been posting in this forum for a while. Sooo.... on to the purpose of this thread.

As some of you know, I have a passion for OS simulations. I've been creating OSSims since 2006, and continued making some in Scratch once I joined.

Of course, Scratch -- still being an awesome programming language which I still use -- did not suit my exaggerate needs and I transitioned to Visual Basic. My first OS in VB, SilviSoft Crystal, has been released a few days ago and I thought I might as well share it with the community. After all, it's Scratch that really opened up my possibilities!

SilviSoft Crystal Home Basic is a professional, Windows-like Operating System Overshell (runs on top of Windows) which has heaps of programs (well, compared to Scratch OS's) and great personalization possibilities.

You can download SilviSoft Crystal right here: SSCR Overview

Enjoy and, Scratch On!

No one seems to be answering my question... HOW DO I MAKE AN OS LIKE THIS IN VB?

Don't worry, the keys are very minimal and do not effect your computer at all.
Anyway, they don't install  tongue

lol xD

Does this work on VirtualBox?

Nope. It's not bootable, so it can't handle low-level stuff by itself. Of course, if oyu have XP or osmething loaded on VBox you can run Crystal on top of it. It's what I have, just for the fun of it  big_smile

Wow, this is happening waaay to often. Can you get to the product key stage? Does it accept 0000000000?

I can get this far, but as it can't connect to the server, it won't accept.

The 60 second rule is implemented on the Scratch server, so nothing can be done about it. Sorry.

It's not an easy task, and it can take months if well planned.
If you have determination and really want to try, I think the best way to get answers is to post a new topic in Misc or another VB site (MSDN is a good one).
Keep in mind that this thread is about SilviSoft Crystal, not how to make an OS in VB.

Absolutely right, fortunately! Imagine what the forums would be like if someone could bypass the rule!

Re: My new OS, this time in VB! SS_Crystal

I've got a temporary version online for SS_Crystal!

Main File
Updater

Download both into the same folder. This is compromising security a tad but it's OK I guess!  smile  I don't plan on selling it anyway...

Thanks! I can't test it now, I'm at my cousins house, about 120 miles away from where I live. But I'll try it when I get back tomorrow.
