Ah, yes. The server is not online or you are not online.
It happens occasionally, because either my host is down or it just decides to not work at all.

Try again after a few seconds/minutes, depending on whether it happens over and over.

Wow guys, thanks for all your support and compliments! Here's a couple responses.

OB6160 wrote:

I enjoyed your os greatly but here is a list of bugs you may want to consider fixing:

1: It was tooth grindingly slow really? it was fine on my 2GhZ PC...
2: Your web browser was hardly state of the art see geckofx.org for a proper browser control
I know. I've definitely made better browsers, but I simply couldn't be bothered. Maybe I'll make something better for Firedust (next OS)
3: Your app management system needed more refining
I didn't find any flaws in that, it was just how I liked it!
4: Try updating the window style, I use devcomponents Office 2007 style form for my window manage
rThat sounds interesting! can i have a link or something?

Here are some things I liked:

1: I liked your installer
Thanks. I made it as easy as possible  smile
2: I liked the way it gives you updates on a laptops battery (How did you do that ??)
In VB.NET, use the SystemInformation.PowerStatus class!
and I enjoyed the login screen
the one in firedust is even better  big_smile

my responses in blue  big_smile

Again, I really hope you enjoy and prepare for firedust. I personally think it will be a great progress from Crystal and Sim OS's in general!

Could I help????

I don't know how to create my own OS in VB, can someone help me? I want to make a nice little OS, but google won't find anything, so where can I make a OS like this one?

You can't make an OS in vb.net but you can make a GUI to cover the horrible MS one.

If I was to make one I would;

Create a taskbar that I want and hide the MS one.
Add lots of quick access features.
Start the program on login.

I need to know tocodes, also.

VB6, I believe.
.NET Framework version 4.0.0.0

VB6 does not make .NET programs (like this one). You may have used Visual Basic 2008 Express or Visual Basic 2010 Express or paid hundreds of dollars for the professional version (i doubt that  tongue )

OK, so it's simply VB.NET Version 4.  smile
And, hehe, I am using the Professional version of VS2010!  big_smile
But I did not pay €600 for it, I'm registered via Dreamspark.

Well, kinda. It can easily open executable files like EXE and BAT through either the programs interface (set them in the Control Panel) or a desktop shortcut, but it doesn't give them a custom skin and doesn't manage them. Although you can kill external processes from Crystal using the "°°°°°" button in the bottom right corner  big_smile

Of course, feel free to make your own apps, run them through me for a check, and I'll post an update which you can easily download from your very own copy of crystal using the Update Center!

Oh, by the way. 1200th post  big_smile

Wait, so what difference does it make when you save it to a USB or your HDD?
You still choose your directory and you still can connect to the internet can't you?

How come I never find out about these cool things?
The only full software I've got is Flash editor, and that's because a friend from school gave me an old product key.

Ah yes. Too bad it's a trial, I don't want to install something that will become unusable in 25 days.

Anyway, if you are in High School you can get Microsoft to send you a registration key even if your school isn't listed and get heaps of great software!
