New forum ranks!

Okay, so right now there is Scratcher and new scratcher, but what if we added a couple NEW ranks? They could be Experienced Scratcher and Veteran Scratcher? To get Experienced, you have to be on the forums for one year, and to get veteran you have to be on for three years. These ranks might have special privelages, like a whole other forum just for Veterans, or something else! What do you think????

i always thought a veteran scratcher was an ordinary scratcher, just a fancier way of saying it.the"whole other forum just for Veterans"would be a problem because there are only 100 scratchers that would fit that qualification.good idea though.

Ranks might be okay, but no special privileges or a special forum.

Ranks like this just separate new Scratchers from older ones. While you will get bragging rights, think about how the others would feel. If you were a new Scratcher that had just joined and you saw everyone else looking down at you because you weren't an 'Experienced Scratcher', how would you feel? And anyway ranks don't show how good a Scratcher someone is; they only show how long they have been on the forums, and that doesn't even include forum activity.

Re: New forum ranks!

There should be no sorting of users simply based on when they first visited the forums.  hmm

This pretty much sums up everything. ^_^

I don't know, I was thinking of that new scratchers could know where to look for if they needed any help, so they could easily find someone who would be able to help or something like that...

Yeah, but just because someone joined in 2008 or something, doesn't mean they might know more than someone like me, who joined at the end of 2009. They might be inactive, and when someone asks an inactive person, they might not know and might feel ignored.

I have been on since 2007.

Trust me, this wouldn't work. Based on forum posts and projects, maybe. But that would make Blade-Edge God..... *shudders*

Or something like that. To get Experienced, you have to be on the forums for one year, and to get veteran you have to be on for three years. These ranks might have special privelages, like a whole other forum just for Veterans, or something else! That's just wrong. Why an extra forum for people who have been on Scratch longer than others? What if I made an account and didn't do anything to it for three years. I came back later and had special privileges for nothing? What do you think????Terrible idea.

*Recoils in horror* I agree; you really can't define helpfulness and knowledge by how long someone has been on the forums (or number of posts). I know many users that have been on for years, but aren't particularly helpful when it comes to questions about Scratch. Conversely, there have also been very new users that have been extremely helpful.
