The most boring story in the world....?

Hey! I'm doing a writing assignment and that means BUSINESS! I would have gotten down to it right away, but I can't.... because the assignment is to write a really boring story. I'm not trying to be conceded or anything, but I'm not good at boring stories at all.  big_smile

Here's what I have so far:

I walked into my room. The chairs were lined up perfectly. A small bed was sitting against my neat bookcase; not a single thing was out of order. Everything was still and calm. I turned around, opened the door, and walked back into my living room. Nothing had changed; nothing ever changed here. A portrait of my father hung above the fireplace. His expression was blank. I couldn't tell anything. He looked neither sad nor happy, but something in between: he was successful, all right, but he had lived a very uneventful life.... and what was life without events? I walked back into my bedroom, took a book off the bookshelf, and began to read. It was very badly written. I was asleep within minutes.

Any ideas to make it more boring? Thanks guys!

Make it less descriptive. Then it will be very boring and bland.

Go off on tangents really easily.  Maybe glance at a book or something and launch into a paragraph having nothing to do with the story.  Also, as wiimaster said, less description is good description.  Make few opinionated statements like "nothing ever happens around here,"  and above all, inactive statements make it boring.  "Being verbs" (is, are) instead of "action verbs" (ran, trudged), the simplest words you can think of (nothing fancy).

Now that'll make one boring story.

Thanks! XD You rock at being boring.... wait, sorry.... it's really hard to compliment you on this due to the strange nature of my request. Wait.... GOOD. JOB. I think that did it.
