The 3DS Isn't Worth It...

Sorry to all you guys eager for the 3DS, but I really don't think it'll be worth it.

I thought the price of the thing was too much. But the games are $40. Really?

And I'm still pretty mad about that pathetic battery life.

So, I guess I'll just say that I'm not getting the 3DS. Sorry, guys.  sad

Re: The 3DS Isn't Worth It...

I dunno. PSP quality graphics, in true 3D, without glasses? That's kind of a big deal.

You can always just wait and buy the system and games used for much less.

banana500 wrote:

That's with the brightness and volume maxed out. They said the DSi was 3-4 hours, and I can get 12 out of mine.

I still say it's worth getting eventually, even if it's too much right now.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: The 3DS Isn't Worth It...

INCORRECT.

The 3DS is the GREATEST handheld nintendo has ever created. in fact, ANY COMPANY has created. why?

• 3D without glasses. It has a slider which allows the user to make the effect stronger or weaker, and even turn it off if they desire.
• It is (obviously) the successor to the Nintendo DS series. The 3DS was formally announced on March 15, 2010 and unveiled to the press at E3 2010 on June 15th.
• Nintendo has expressed a desire to use SD Cards as a storage medium, possibly even storing games. It's also worthwhile to mention that the initial cartridges will go up to 2 GB, but will later be able to go up to 8 GB. Massive games are massive; 8 GB is nearly the size of a dual-layer Wii disc like Brawl! This seems pretty promising to me...
• It's slated for a February 26, 2011 release in Japan, March 27 for North America, and March 25 for Europe + 31st for Australia
• It has been confirmed that the 3DS will utilize the Digital Media Professionals PICA200 Graphical Processing Unit.
• The Nintendo 3DS will be backwards-compatible with DS and DSi game cartridges.
• Its mass is 230 grams; dimensions are 134x74x21 mm. The top screen's size will be increased to 90 mm. Pixel densities are 238ppi for top screen, 133ppi for bottom.
• The stylus will be extendable up to four inches, and the slot for it has been returned to the top; much like the original DS.
• It will have a gyroscope, motion sensor, control nub, and a home button added; also, there will be three cameras, two of them useable to create a 3D effect.
• There will be a 2GB SD Card bundled with systems. The confirmed colours for the system are Cosmos Black and Aqua Blue.
• There will also be an included cradle which will act as a charger for the system, and allow faster uploads and downloads (don't ask how those are related in any way, I have no idea.)
• A Virtual Console service will be available, allowing possible 3D effects added to older games.
• Miis also have been added. They can be imported from the Wii, and also created using pictures taken with the 3DS (sounds pretty cool, huh?).
• Part of the online shop for the 3DS will be 3D films, one of them being "How to Train Your Dragon."
• There are two new modes; StreetPass and SpotPass. StreetPass allows nearby 3DS devices to passively (without input) access your own unit's information (and vice versa) for various reasons such as sharing Miis; SpotPass allows the 3DS to (once again, without input) download information from WiFi while in sleep mode.
• There are several goodies preloaded onto the 3DS; a Mii channel, music player, augmented reality games, a shop and download service, PictoChat, an internet channel, and a photo channel.
• The 3DS will be able to multitask, i.e. browsing the internet in the middle of a game.
• There will be unlockable 'Game Coins' that you get from walking around; that is, the 3DS acts like a pedometer. Game Coins will open hidden content within games.
• Apps running in the background will be shown at the top of the touch screen.
• There will be a notifications list that includes StreetPass and SpotPass alerts.
• Five brightness settings will be available.
• Up to 64 applications can be stored on the home menu
• Up to 100 friends can be added; Nintendo has mentioned plans for a sort of messaging system as well.
• There will be a 12-digit universal friend code.

it has MAJOR support from companies such as Capcom, Renegade Kid and BioWare, not to mention all the others and developers.

The 3DS is NOT something you want to miss out on.

But seriously, who NEEDS 3D anyway? As for all those pros, you can do almost half of those on an iPod.

Ok, seriously? You just took so much stuff, some of which aren't even pros/cons, and chopped them up to make them look like a huge list. Plus, you left out all of the cons, so you make it look better than it is. You are one biased kid, Jack.
