I know a little trick that needs two sand blocks to find them.

Go to the end of a shaft and look up. Place a sand block on the edge of the block next to the shafts end. Then look down and position yourself so it's only just inside the sand block and then look up and place another one.

You should then be able to look through the walls to find caves and stuff.

I know there underground but is there anyway of finding where? Thanks for the tip- already knew it.

For some reason I keep spawning near them ._. In my newest world I spawned near two of them, one buried another in a cave. 

Always look for cobblestone or mossy cobblestone you didn't place, if you find some it's very likely it's from a dungeon. Or it could've been lava clashing with water but that's unlikely to occur naturally    Though you probably already knew that. 

Sometimes you can find dungeons buried in the sand, in that case look for abrupt changes (2 or more blocks) of altitude. Bring a shovel.

YUS! Finally a dungeon (spider)!  It had 1 iron a bit of string and two saddles. I was collecting the moss stone (someone said I should) and behind it I found iron! Not great but BEHIND that was diamond!    I also found 100s of iron, coal, redstone, about 50 gold and 8 diamonds! And some lapiz lazuli but not much. Anyway, I'll go off in a happy mood!

Also, it's my first day as CraftMania builder and the first thing I learn is that CraftMania's Classic server is closing. D: But I built two awesome towers:
