Ubuntu 10.10 here. 

-Workspaces
-Open source
-Blazing boot/shutdown times (I can shut down Ubuntu in literally 10 seconds, compared to several minutes when I'm on XP)
-Just as good as Windows 7 and much easier on system resources
-The only thing I miss from Windows is the wider range of available applications, and Wine fixes that to a certain extent.
-Did I mention it's open source?

Linux is the best. Just look at all the other Operating Systems:
               Usability               Reliability               Speed                    Features
Mac         Can't do anything  Can't do anything     Can't do anything   Can't do anything
Windows  Worse than Mac    Millions of Viruses    Terrible                  Conficker and Spyware
Solaris      Unusable             Crashes all the time Terrible                  No software whatsoever
Linux       Can do anything   Super, best defense  What Harakou said  Open-Source

Also, you can do anything with Linux so long as you know a little programming. I don't but my dad does, and he could turn my Linux into an Xbox if he wanted to.
Actually, it is possible to turn an Xbox into a Linux. Look it up.

Actually, it is possible to turn an Xbox into a Linux. Look it up.

Yeah, but it's super slow. Linux can do anything at super speed, Mac requires you to spend millions on memory. Linux doesn't even need Boot Camp, just use Wine. No Mac applications are valuable in any way. Same goes for Solaris.

Try out Linux, you'll want to change your username.

I think you should know ihaveamac doesn't even use a Mac as his main computer anymore. And don't get me wrong; I love Linux, but your analysis is slightly exaggerated. Windows 7 and Mac OS X are both excellent OS's with their own advantages.

I've got an Ubuntu 10.10 (for developing my own os) and Salix 13.2 64bit (for everyday computing) dual boot.

There are tons of Linux distros. Which one is best for you depends on what you need it for.
