Add Variables to Broadcasts...

Quick! Try adding a reporter block to a "broadcast" or "broadcast and wait" block! It works in 1.3! It will broadcast something if the variable equals the name of a broadcast. Try it!

Re: Add Variables to Broadcasts...

OMIGAWSH! NO WAY!

Actually, this can be useful! Using the Array's text field, a user could type something they want broadcasted into the box, then #1 of that array or whatever could be what you want to broadcast and have a variable called broadcastWhat? or something. Then, it would broadcast the variable!

when I recieve [done]
set [broadcastWhat] to (#1 of textFieldArray)
broadcast [(broadcastWhat)]

hehe... THANK YOU SO MUCH FULLMOON!

This is one of the niftiest features of the new Scratch version. You can now build your own dynamic interpreted programming lanugage that way.

Cool, you're right. I think of it more as a bug.

Re: Add Variables to Broadcasts...

It's definitely not a bug, but designed that way.
