Stereo sound

Why does Scratch always convert to mono?

I had an idea for a game, but then I remembered that Scratch couldn't use stereo sound, so the idea was impossible.
It would be great if Scratch use stereo, so that people can have sounds louder in one ear than in the other. Such a feature would really help heighten the immersiveness.
The program itself wouldn't actually need any sound editing features, the user could just import right ear only or left ear only sounds created in a third party program (like Audacity).

Anyone else think this would be a good idea?

Re: Stereo sound

Good idea, but very confusing to new Scratchers and new programmers in general. I think Scratch should not convert imported sounds to mono, but I disagree with having the choice.
