For some reason I've been finding way too many dungeons lately. I started a new world and started right near what might be one, and I found another in a cave, near the spawn as well.

Use Glowstone, or torches. By coincidence I found a cool way to make a chandelier on the forums, like this:

 F 
TBT

F= Fence
B= Any Block
T= Torch, on all 4 sides

Just put it in the ceiling.

I also just beat (put torches around spawner) my first dungeon!    The loot: 3 wheat, 3 bread, a bucket, 2 redstone, a saddle, 3 string and 2 Iron Ingots. Now I just gotta figure out how to make a trap with the spawner 

EDIT: And while typing this a creeper blew me up. Great. ಠ_ಠ

Oh god, I have a giant underground area under my houses (I separate everything in houses) so whenever a creeper blows up, it makes a hole going into the underground area. Good thing creepers only blow up when there is nothing between you and them. Otherwise creepers would be blowing up on top of me from the surface!

DAT TEXTURE PACK. I'd say I need it but my PC runs MC slowly even with fast graphics and tiny render distance, which is why I'm looking to install the Optimine (or whatever) mod. 

Well this is annoying.. I'd literally only just fixed the house again, saved and closed Minecraft to do something else. When I reloaded it the same half of the house is gone again. Does this happen a lot?

It won't slow minecraft down.

I once tried a 16x16 tex. pack and it seemed to slow the game down, even on already generated chunks.    Oh well, I might check it out once I install some stuff to reduce lag.

The normal textures are 16x16. Maybe try making the fog distance lower.

I thought they were 8x8... Oh well. And it's always on tiny, and even then I get lag when generating chunks D:
